My Fair Lady was a major disappointment for me. Sides are faded, particularly in the dark scenes, color shifts within a scene are annoying, and according to Robert Harris, we are only getting about 30%-50% of the resolution we should be getting (There's a big discussion about this on HTF).

I'm usually not super picky, but this one is bad enough that I won't be buying it (I rented it first to see how bad the problems were). This title deserves so much better!

An excellent idea if I've ever heard one. Recently a spirited discussion on the picture quality of The Matrix broke out, so even older discs get periodically re-evaluated in the Tier discussion thread.

Making sure that most of the poor BDs are nominated and listed in the PQ Tiers list is important, as many people use it as a purchasing guide. The aforementioned Gulliver's Travels (1939) is already placed as low as it can be, in Tier 5.0 (Coal).

It needs to be placed lower. Perhaps a 5.5 Scum Tier.

Since people keep re-trying this same thread every couple of months, maybe we should just sticky it?

Welcome to Rivendell, Mister Anderson.

Well - my third Blu-ray title has now died!!! Went to watch The Ninth Gate last night and even though it played fine last year - it will not load any of my players (Oppo - PS3 or Panny). In fact, I get the "No Disc" reading from my Oppo and the PS3 just spins and spins and then gives up trying to read the disc. Lionsgate disc rot has struck again!!! (previous Lionsgate title that rotted on me were the first versions of Total Recall & Stargate). Sigh

It needs to be in a "Tier 6: Bong Water" category since you'd have to have just finished smoking something to think it has any redemming value at all....

Even the "Preditor: Smear Edition" and the "Out of Africa and Out of Their Minds Edition" weren't stretched horizontally...

Not water - but I did several wipedowns with a microfiber cloth I use to clean my discs and had no luck with that.

I just watched my Ninth Gate BD 2 days ago, and it played fine on my Oppo 83.
