For the turtles fans from Blu-Ray.com -

Quote:

Warner Home Video has revealed that they will bring the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Collector's Edition Box Set' to Blu-ray this August, day-and-date with the DVD release. The set, which is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the first film, will include all four TMNT films - 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time', and 'TMNT' - in stunning high definition.

No technical specs or special features have been revealed at this time, but you can click here to view the Warner Brother's website showing the proposed box and disc art.

The set includes all three live-action films (ah... remember the good 'ole days before endless CG sequences?) as well as the most recent animated film, which was released on Blu-ray in 2007.

We expect to hear more as the release date approaches.

Coverart here-

Great news. I like the pizza discs although the TMNT3 one should be rotten or worse.

I hope it includes the once promised director's cut of the first film. Or, at the very least, I hope it restores the whole training montage in the farm that appeared in theaters but was truncated in all subsequent video releases.

They can keep the 3rd one but I will be buying! Can't believe it's been 25 years though...

I love the retro art on the BD cover. TMNT3 disc is going to go unused no matter what I've seen that movie twice already which was two times too many for such a **** movie.

Where the hell are they getting 25 years from? First movie came out in 1990.

It's been 25 years since the comic came out, so maybe that's what they're referring to. Seems like a silly excuse, though, especially since they bastardized the comic with the movies. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first one, but it was hardly representative of the darkness that the comic suggested.

Enjoyed the first one a lot when I was a kid, and the sequel was (and still is) a guilty pleasure. Unfortunately there's no way I'm going to buy a box set with all four. The third movie was zero replay value for me, and I already own TMNT on HD DVD (I heard rumours of another animated film - anyone know if there's truth to that?). I'll have to see if I can pick up 1 & 2 used somewhere.

I first thought this was a must own when I heard about it as being a Trilogy set (being a die hard Turtle fan) but I hate the third movie and already have TMNT on blu-ray, so I'm not so sure now... if the price is right and they didn't DNR the **** out of it, I'll have to bite.

Maybe, just maybe, we can hope for a UK release that has them all individual much like the 4 Batman Movies.

Yeah, I wondered that too. Apparently is been 25 years since the creation of the Characters, i.e. Comics.

Regarding the 25 years comment, that had me scratching my head, too. I clearly remember seeing this movie during its theatrical release (opening weekend, as I recall)... and the year was definitely not 1984.

Eastman and Laird first created the Ninja Turtles in the mid '80s with the old black & white comics.

This is the reason. They actually re-released the original action figure designs as 25th anniversary items as well along with a few other odds and ends.

Oh I love the old Eastman and Laird coverart (assuming that's what it is which is looks like it could be). This will definitely be a day 1 purchase.

Awesome! I love these movies, except III. It's a shame they don't offer I and II separately.

Was TMNT a good movie? I was the biggest turtles fan as a kid, but the PG rating held me back (was hoping for a darker movie like the first teaser implied). Blind buy, rental, for TMNT fans only, kids only...?

It was ok. The only thing I didn't care for was that it's a CGI cartoon movie. It would've been better if it was live action like the trilogy. But yes, I think it is a dark movie. I felt that it was a tad darker than the first movie. But the original movies I and II are the best of the bunch, no question about it. I recommend a rental tho.

Oh boy, Vanilla Ice in HD! When does "Cool as Ice" hit Blu-ray?

I was a huge fan when these came out. I'll probably rent the BDs.

Ninja, Ninja, RAP!
I still enjoy the live action movies(1 and 2) more than the CGI movie.
I recently baught the DVD set at a good price and enjoyed watching them again. I was surprised how much I remembered the first movie, I was quoting lines all during the entire movie. I must have watched the original more than I remember. To bad they did not include the Pizza Hut intro I remember from the VHS. : ) I can't believe they changed the original cut for home release, I had no idea! This is disapointing.

/mean, green, and on the big screen.
/The movies are still fun for an occasional viewing.

I too grew up on TMNT and was hoping the new movie would be dark and inspired by the comics as originally rumored. I watched it and it was fine. The CG was excellent at certain points and the personalities reflect that of the first movie. The story itself is pretty awful and wouldn't appeal to older fans but it's still an easy to watch flick. Way better than TMNT3. Having it in the box set doesn't hurt the collection.

I was a TMNT fanatic and enjoyed part 3. Guess I'm the only one. I don't have any of them in HD, this should be a nice set if the price is right. (And PQ isn't butchered)

Edit: Having recently rewatched part 3, I must rescind these remarks. Part 3 was incredibly cheesy and the costumes are not as good as the first 2.

I enjoyed all three for their own reasons. 2 and 3 were pretty cheesy but eh those were good times so I let them slide. Same for just about all Jean Claude Van Dam movies.

I had no expectations going into it... but my wife and I were pleasantly surprised, it was pretty enjoyable. If I didn't have nostalgic bias, it's probably the best turtles flick made so far, even if the plot is a bit to sci-fi-ish at times.
