Hi guys,

I'm new here so apologies in advance if I posted this in the wrong section of the forum. I should also point out in advance that I'm a newbie to the technical aspects of HD software/hardware.

Essentially my problem lies in what I assume could be a faulty disc. At around the 0:16:02 mark of Return of the King (bluray, Theatrical UK version Region B), just before the film cuts to a flashback of Smeagol strangling his friend, there is a really heavy bass effect in play, at which I can hear a distinct crackling/static noise. Does anyone else who own this disc have the same problem?

I played the disc using Powerdvd 11 on my PC and bluray drive. I know that isn't the hottest source for getting the most out of the lossless audio track, but the system seems to play low frequencies just fine for mp3s and any other audio file I have. I also test the disc on my PS3 and the static was noticeable, though to a lesser extent since the volume enhancement on the PS3 is rather weak. Sound settings were on default for powerdvd, or at least I made sure no audio tweaks/enhancement was used.

Patience. Some people don't get a chance to read AVS till the weekend. I myself don't have an answer to your question, but someone else may. Give it a little longer.

Apologies, the forums I usually frequent are quite hectic and fast paced, so I guess I'm just used to fast reply times. I'll wait this one out, no big hurry.

No apology needed. Can you get access to blu-ray rental's in your area, perhaps you can rent the same disc and see if it does the same thing as the copy you have, something to try if you can.

Actually, I tried a 720p blu-ray rip and the noice/static was present there as well. So maybe it's just my computer?
