comes out 8/7

Our version is lossy/compressed.

I don't know if I've ever seen a Blu-ray release that uses DD+. The domestic release on BD does have a 640kbps DD track, which is better than DVD.

It's up for pre-order at Yesasia now for 08/13 at around USD30.

Much better retailer for with english layout.

It features portuguese subtitles, so it's the same version that's coming out in Brazil.

the audio on the US BD (straight DD) is **** compared to the HD-DVD DD+ track, the bass is weak on the BD, in fact no comparison to the DD+ track

would love to have this and see how it stacks up, as this is one of my favs

I still would put the HD/BD encode as a top reference PQ pick if I were asked for a opinion

The HD-DVD's track is recorded at a low volume. It's ****, so the BD must be truly awful.

I'll be curious to see if the Korean release is done properly. If it is, I am buying.

The US HD DVD with DD+640 should sound like the US BD with DD640.

I guess im one of the lucky ones that got TrueHD on my HD DVD.

Good movies are as rare as an on topic discussion.

I'm certainly interested in it but I'm not going to buy until I've seen user impressions, heard of any issues and know that it's worth spending the money on to import.

As I recall, there are scenes in the movie with Japanese dialogue. The foreign Blu-ray editions are unlikely to default to English subtitles during those scenes.

Yes but Craig doesn't want PAL 480i/p extras, right?
(By the way Craig, I've been region free for awhile and have been importing for 4 years.)
Does that site have an English version? I was thinking of "switching-over" my HDDVD.

wrong ... extras are actually ports of NTSC....

when big studios release BR or the old HD DVD.. the only thing new are the sound tracks and the subs....

There is no such thing as PAL 480i/p

Pal would be PAL 576i/p.

There are apparently several countries that have this released.
It's interesting because the HD DVD didn't have TrueHD so they actually created a different encoding for this, no? I wonder if the video is any different.

Again, so funny, considering I've never seen this movie and have no interest in it.

My HD DVD had TrueHD. So it could basicly be the same encode.

And see the movie, its rather good.

The Swedish edition, and I guess it the same edition that was released in several European countrys.

Audio: English TrueHD, English Dolby digital plus and Italian Dolby digital plus.
Subtitles: Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norweigan, English, Dutch and Italian.

Warner released it much later then the US edition, so I guess whatever reason it wasnt included in the US edition didnt stop them from using it here.

I wonder how they made it fit on the Swedish HD DVD; the US disc practically fills the 30GB.

I have the HK disc and it has TruHD, South Korean disc is probably the same...

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

I watched this last night with my 16 year old, now he totally got into this movie vs Total Rekall 2012.
I bought the blu-ray from BB 1 1/2 year ago, have watched 4-5 times, I really like this also.
(mine is the USA english version with Japanses sub-titles, viewed it on my scope screen)
