Just picked up the Big Screen Edition from my local WM here in SoCal and the listed price was 19.96 but when I got to the regisiter it was rung up at 15.99. Not bad.

The commentary was great to hear, I love when Bay rip's on T4's "Transformer". I enjoyed "The big effing movie" one the most.

Went to the Rosemead, CA Walmart Supercenter. No BD on shelf, but there are boxes with both DVD and BD in cardboard boxes and I had to pick from there. The box lists 150 minutes which I believe is one more then the regular version. The 3 dollar Papa Johns coupon works.

Do you guys notice that there are also IMAX DVD copies?

(also posted in Xylon's pic thread, apologies for the duplication)

QUESTION:

I just picked up my IMAX BD version from WM during lunch, and noticed on the back packaging the following text, under the "SPECIAL FEATURES" line near the bottom left, just above the PG-13 logo:

"Dialogue has been changed from the theatrical version"

Now, I have not searched any other threads yet, but wanted to know if anyone else noticed this? Since I did not see this in the theater, I would not even noticed if anything had changed...

Just curious!

EDIT - Never mind, found it!

In the BD, when the protagonists are walking through the meat locker-the observation about dead pigs goes without out a swine flu reference for a few extra seconds.

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

In terms of the dialogue being changed, I don't know if this specific part was changed for this release or it was always there, but, Megan Fox clearly says the F word towards the end of the film when she runs to Sam and screams at Lennox.

I didn't even notice it until I put the subtitles on and had to stop and rewind to see what I saw was actually said. And sure enough, she says it as clear as day.

The interesting thing is, I think it was always there from the beginning. It sounds exactly how it did in the theatre but it's just clearer on this disc.

How Michael Bay got that one through, I don't know but it's there.

I got the "big screen" version from Wally today. They are selling like hot cakes there! Anyway, I noticed that this audio on this is NOT recorded hot at all, and I can play it much closer to reference level than may other Blu-rays. I am at about -5dB from reference where as for most DTS-HD tracks I an around -11dB or so. Anyone else notice this too?

I picked it up at lunch as well. I hope the LFE tracks are hotter on this than they were on TF1 on HD DVD. There were only a few scenes in TF1 that had GOOD bass

Close to reference or reference volume will be had in my house tonight though, DAMN THE NEIGHBOORS!!! .

I was at WallyWorld in Chelmsford MA at around 9.20 this morning.

There were loads of copies in DVD & Blu, both in a floor dump near the entrance, and also in the movies area. But every blu-ray had been shoved into a plastic box, which seemed to be designed for blu-ray cases, but did not take slipcovers into account. Looking at them, each box had two prongs digging into the left top of the slipcover, and on the right a length of about an inch was being crumpled downwards. I looked through all the copies and they all had damage. I was about to give up but found one where the damage was minimal enough for me to be happy with.

When I bought it, the girl on the register didn't know how to get the movie out. We waited for someone to come over. They didn't. She flagged down another girl who was working on opening a copy for a woman at the next register. I could see straightaway that this copy was scrunched. Needless to say, the second girl got this open and offered it to me! I told her I'd been through all their racks to find a decent copy because of the stupid plastic boxes, and did not want that one. She turned and gave it to the woman she was originally helping, scrunches clearly visible. The woman frowned but took it anyway.

More struggling, and finally she got the box apart. At this point I offered to take it out. A little fiddling, and I was done. I'm happy with the copy I got, but what a palaver!

There was nothing wrong with the LFE on the HD DVD, unless you had DRC enabled in your player.

Mine did not come with the slipcover. None of the Big Screen Editions had them at my local Walmart.

Yes, mine is Bumblebee

Could you be just a little less vague?

First, some of us just bought the movie and second...

Some of us do not stare at or have within view our DVD counters while enjoying the movie. What is the effect and what should we expect based upon your experience with your equipment.

There are plenty of PG-13 movies that have used the F word. If it is not being used in relation to sexual behavior, you can get away with it in a PG-13 movie.

I believe you can use it up to two times in a movie and still get a PG-13 rating.

EDIT:

Found this via Wikipedia (not sure how accurate it is):
Quote:

If a film uses "one of the harsher sexually derived words" (such as ****) one to four times, it is routine today for the film to receive a PG-13 rating, provided that the word is used as an expletive and not with a sexual meaning (this was mentioned in Be Cool, when Chili Palmer complains about the movie industry.). Both Back to School and Away from Her contain four uses of "****" in non-sexual context. An example of a film that might suggest this criterion is Waiting for Guffman, which contains mostly PG-13 content, yet is rated R (brief strong language) because a man auditioning for a role uses **** in a sexual context while quoting Raging Bull (the only time it is spoken in the movie). Also, some films are rated R but contain minimal use of the word, such as Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Run Lola Run, 88 Minutes, and Frost/Nixon. Exceptions may be allowed, "by a special vote of the ratings board" where the board feels such an exception would better reflect the sensibilities of American parents. A couple of exceptions were noted: rare films such as Guilty by Suspicion were allowed as many as nine uses of the word; probably because of the precedent set in the 1970s by politically important films such as All the President's Men. All the President's Men was once rated R but then re-rated PG on appeal. It is a common misconception that if a movie uses **** in a nonsexual context more than once, it will automatically receive an R rating. In reality, PG-13 movies are routinely allowed two or three uses. But there have been two extreme circumstances so far: Gunner Palace has 42 uses of the word, 2 used sexually,[27] and The Hip Hop Project has 17 uses. Both films were rated PG-13 on appeal from an R rating. Precedent for this dates back to the early days of the system, in which an independent film called "Saturday Morning" (a documentary including interviews with youth) was allowed many extra uses of the word to accommodate its documentary nature without restricting its primary audience. (See Farber's book, described below, for documentation of the "Saturday Morning" fact.)

The "making of" is fantastic. Doesn't change my view of the film that I like with serious reservations (especially after listening to the commentary) but you do come to appreciate the madness of Bay.

All the special features are get on this disc. "Giant Effing Movie's is the best. But, the "making of" doc is one of the best done for any disc.
