Mine is also the dutch version. But avforums says its also present on the u.s. remastered, no idea how many of you dont hear it, unless its only present on some discs.

http://www.avforums.com/forums/blu-r...ay-review.html

A thread dedicated to the crackling, they claim its audio clipping.

Hey guys, I recently purchased a remastered version of gladiator on blu-ray and have several times throughout the movie, after the battle of carthage with the crowd cheering, throughout the entire battle with the tigers. The sound continually clips and cracks. This does not happen on the Region 1 DVD, does anyone else this issue? Could it be an error with the print?

I've had this happen using my Oppo BDP-83. What player are you using?

BDP-93 decoding the audio when going into my RX-V2700, does not happen with any other blu-ray or dvd.

So its the source? How is this not a more widespread issue? It sounds awful especially in comparison to the DVD.

I think it's a noted issued with this movie's soundtrack, the extended DVD was the same.

It's been awhile since I've watched it, but I think ejecting and reloading the disc resolves the issue.

Until it happens again.

Does anyone else have the Blu-Ray though? a decoding issue is quite unlikely to cause this kind of problem with no other Disc affected. I am really surprised people don't notice this more.

Sorry old thread but wanted to mention...

Baraka, 1992, was scanned at 8k resolution. It was shot in 70mm though, so a 4k scan for 35mm would certainly be reasonable.

Has anyone picked up the two pack with Braveheart? Is the Gladiator disc the original release or the new remaster?

Finally purchased the new Gladiator remaster from Amazon last month (yellow UPC label). This is the most visually stunning blu-ray in my collection. As near to perfect as I have ever seen on my 52" Samsung LCD. Bravo! Braveheart is definitely a close 2nd.

1080P at last!!!

Does anyone know if Paramount is still swapping the old fail-ray version for the remastered version? I bought the original a year ago but then had twins so..yeah...I haven't had time to follow up getting mine swapped.

Just picked up the Action Double Feature in Costco for $17.99. Hopefully the Gladiator disc has no flaws like those mentioned above. Did Braveheart have any issues??

The first 20-odd minutes have subtle jaggy artifacts ( http://images.blu-ray.com/reviews/1805_8_1080p.jpg ) but that's never been fixed to my knowledge. Otherwise it looks stunning.

So that double pack with Braveheart is the better version? Awsome, I saw it in Costco last weekend and didn't pick it up because I was worried it wasn't the right one, now I will have to go grab it.

FYI, I just received my Gladiator blu-ray from Amazon and its the old version.

It was ordered on Aug. 28, 2011 and delivered on Sept. 8, 2011. Two disc set, white UPC label. Disc 1 has the following code (384465) NA 13081B1R1 07E on the inner ring and (384464) NA 13081B1R1 05E on the outer ring.

I thought that Amazon would be shipping all re-mastered discs by now.

Me, too. I was going to order the disc a while back from Amazon thinking the coast is clear. Guess not.

I didn't want to take a chance so I ordered the braveheart/gladiator pack from amazon. The gladiator disk doesn't have the b1r2 marking but instead has the bvdl-103860B1 8. I believe this is the remastered version as I compared the screencaps of the old and new and my disc appears (to my eyes anyway) to be the fixed version.

I have the original bluray of gladiator and Ive been reading thru this forum and see that some parts of the remastered version has issues? Is it still worth getting the remastered over the original?

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Must..stop...buying...every bluray release...

No need to buy the new one. I think you can still send your original copy back and get the remastered one in exchange.

Just want to let you guys know (since I didn't see it mentioned) that Amazon temporarily stopped selling Gladiator because they were informed they were still selling the old version. So I assume it should be safe to buy now (from Amazon--not third parties) since they made such a big deal out of it.

P.S. wish I had known about the swap deal. I ended up paying $4 to ship my version back to a third party seller and paid $20 for it at BB.

Put my old version (that I received from Amazon) in the mail to Paramount on 10/23. Nothing back yet. Will let you know how long the turnaround is once I get the remastered version back. Should be quicker for me since I'm in SoCal.
