Yeah. Except the German Blu is locked.

Yes I dont know, german or nordic?

Im leaning toward the nordic, but i dont know about sound though.

I could get the german and just region unlock it. But i thought the nordic looked slightly better minus the odd color.

I just wish that they would release this film on Blu with the same extras that the SE Dvd versions got. The same goes for Kingdom of Heaven on BD.

Anyone know where you can buy the Nordic version? I've looked everywhere I know to look & can't find it.

Also has anyone compared the Nordic version to the German version for PQ & AQ?

Last question is the German VC-1 PQ that much better than the USA MPEG-2?

It's one of my favorite movies & I'd like to have the PQ & AQ there is for this title.

There are still some working comparison shots on page 2 of this thread. German version is better than the US, but the differences are minuscule, especially considering the transfer isn't that amazing to begin with. Could really use a new one, though I'm not sure if it had a DI.

Does the Nordic version have the same PQ & AQ as the German version?

The only difference being 7.1 vs 5.1? Also does anyone know where you can still buy the Nordic version from?

I'm trying to get the best PQ & AQ on this title so I appreciate any input.

I just ran into this thread.

Also does anyone know where to buy the:

NL/SE/DK - DTS-HD MA 7.1 version of this movie?

I've spent a lot of time online trying to find it but can't find it anywhere.

Thanks ordered.

Does the Swedish have the English soundtrack in DTS-HD MA 7.1?

And also does it have english subtitles when the Africans are speaking in their language like the US version does?

Also no burnt in Swedish subtitles. In other words when you're playing the English tracks you can turn the Swedish subtitles off & just have the English subtitles appear when they Africans are speaking in their language.

By the way thanks for that link. Looks like they'll be getting it back in stock within a week.

Both the DTS track and DD track are english, we only dub movies for children.

The english subtitles are burnt in the master.

There is a "no subtitle" option in the menu. And since the english subs are burnt in the master, you cant miss them.

So what is the consensus here? I'm still confused in whether to go with the German or Nordic version. Where can I buy either of those versions?

I know the transfer isn't great, but is the German and or Nordic release significantly better than the US MPEG 2 version? I might just buy the US MPEG2 version and save me the trouble of going through to get an international release if the improvements are marginal at best and won't be easily noticed with the naked eye.

Well, I have the German release and it looks practically identical to the Sony disc. It handles fast motion slightly better, but we're talking putting your face up to the screen and squinting.

In other words: Don't bother.

Same here, but new disc art normally indicates a new disc

Sony did release an AVC/TrueHD edition of the extended cut in China and Russia... Region C

I have never found any screen grabs or disc scans or even actual pictures of that release though.

How do you know the information is correct then? Someone would have bought it by now since the longer cut on BD would be interesting for many.

I've seen it for sale on some Russian and Chinese websites.. I don't speak either language and I don't think they shipped to the US either.

Actually they have coverart scans here:

Those scans give a runtime of 144 minutes (same as the theatrical version) and there's no other indication it's the extended cut. Where did you read that it was?

I did some searching and I guess it isn't the extended cut. There is coverart floating around that has an extended cut banner on the top. I guess it never actually came out. Either way that is still an AVC/TrueHD version released by Sony.
