Playing the Destroy BluRay-- actually the Japanese 5.1 mix IS on the disc. The box only listed the 2.0 mix.

Note that the 5.1 mix is compressed while the 2.0 is uncompressed. Still doesn't excuse not including it on the box though.

Wasn't the box art change at the very last minute before release which may account for the error? I recall seeing the pre-sale package art as being a Yuji Kaida painting that was originally used on one of the multi disc Japanese region 2 box sets that came out a few years ago that included the movie Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster which is the movie the art original depicted.

Things might pick up before the release of the new Godzilla movie but there's nothing on the horizon at this point except that.

Considering nearly a decade ago Toho went through their entire Godzilla series and "remastered" them for HD broadcast and of course, eventual Blu-ray release, it would be a logical assumption that they'd put out the rest of their films on Blu-ray around the release of the US Godzilla flick next year. However, those HD transfers even when they were done back in '04 - '05 mostly look(ed) pretty soft and outdated, so maybe Toho is in the process of updating them to modern standards or even future proofing them for 4k.

If Warner MPI got their hands on the negatives for the Godzilla series through a licensing agreement with Toho....that would be something I'd happily pay good money for instead of those botched HDTV masters that Toho put out.

I would love to see the entire Godzee catalog in a great BD set.

The other night I watched the MST3K take on Godzilla vs. Megalon and couldn't stop cracking up.

They will spend a hundred million to do a crappy remake but spend money on the originals? Bah, forget about it.

I wasn't going to do this... but here it is.

the first UNAUTHORIZED RELEASE of the Godzilla trailer from 2012 comicon in HD that was secretly leaked on Oct 4th.

the Warner bros and legendary lawyers are pulling them down faster than fans can put them up so who knows how long it will be available.

You didn't have to do this, because here it is: a thread discussing it since Oct 4th.

Which is exactly why I'm posting that several new Godzilla BDs are on the way! Godzilla VS Gigan, Godzilla VS The Sea Monster, and Godzilla VS Hedorah are gonna hit the US this Summer, courtesy of Section23/Kraken, to go with the new movie. If those sell well, you can expect more releases when the new Godzilla hits Blu-Ray next year.

Section23 is releasing the films but Kraken is the distributor or something. Both names were on the press releases. GINO is Godzilla In Name Only AKA Godzilla 98.

The classic Godzilla movie releases capitalizing on the US Godzilla 2014 theatrical movie in May continue to be announced by everyone *but* Toho in Japan. On April 1st (no joke), Universal will release the American/English language versions of "King Kong vs Godzilla" and "King Kong Escapes" on separate Blu-rays. Both are budget no-frills releases and will probably have street date prices under $10 each.

If Universal does not clean them up I will (most likely) be happy. That's Universal's main problem next to using ancient masters.

SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEONK! Sony is releasing all the modern Godzilla movies on Blu - except Godzilla 2000 - and they will be released with the new film. That's everything from Godzilla VS King Ghidorah to Godzilla: Final Wars. The older Godzilla movies Sony had the rights to will be released by Section 23/Kraken, which hit the streets at the same time to go with the new Godzilla film.
