The PQ of the french "Children Of Dune" Blu-ray release was actually not bad, worst thing is that all the permanent subtitles (like the Irulan and Reverend Mother Mohiam scene) are all in French, so it kind of ruins the scene for those not well versed in French.

Bluray rarely burns in subtitles these days, but French releases often force subtitles via the menu where they are unwanted. That's partly why ripping has become popular: to remove some of the prohibitions on the consumer's enjoyment of the material, imposed by the studios, or re-engineer to improve enjoyment.

Are these subtitles forced or burned in, or is there actually a menu option to modify which subtitles are displayed?

Lynch gave us the apex of what Dune can be on film?

I've apparently been transported into some kind of bizarro world in which the Lynch film is not a horrible nightmare. ...Or maybe it has aged over these nearly 30 years, like a festering cocooned pupal, into something entirely unlike what I remember from my previous several viewings? ...Or, Occam-wise, perhaps you are simply mad, sir. Mad! smile.gif

LOL...yeah, well, you're not the only person to bring this up.wink.gif

The problem with trying to fit Dune into a singular movie is the novel doesn't really lend itself to it.
FH's Dune is very dense, with a lot of characters and deep political intrigue.

IMO, FH's Dune series is PERFECT for a multi-year series in the mold of GoT: 12 hours per year per book.
Unfortunately, it seems Hollywood doesn't agree with me.

Perhaps HBO or Showtime should re-visit this,

"Bring out yer dead!".."Wait I'm not dead yet!"..(Sound Austrian here) "WRONG !!" (You know what happens next..)
