true. I just think to really keep her anonymous they should have given to some working class family and she could have been a waitress or cleaning lady or something. Not the damned princess.

and Luke keeping his real last name and not LARS is a colossal oversight.

I'm gonna geek out and say that she had no real knowledge of the force nor that she could have any connection to it. So, I'm thinking that why it was never sensed.

When Anakin kicks Obi-Wan in the face during the duel there is no sound effect, ( but there IS one on one of the dubbed tracks!!!!)

I felt the same way. It's not just that the bass is anemic (though it certainly is)...it's more like it isn't there at ALL. I wonder if the LFE track didn't get encoded properly. Maybe someone has done waterfalls of ROTS that could confirm this...

Oh I know, I just think Obi Wan's line of "safely anonymous" is funny.

After the money the Avatar blu-ray just made, I have a hard time believing Lucas won't release these shortly. He's got an opportunity here to sell a lot of 2D discs before he rapes everyone again on 3D. This is prime time for a release. Waiting until 2011 seems like a big loss of money if they could move 1 million units of a box set at $60 a pop.

Don't blame me. Someone changed it on me.

He's probably too busy making more changes that only ends up annoying fans. He now has 6 films to alter

The blinking eye of the creature in the Death Star's garbage compactor is actually cool though.

I hear ya. Lucas is a business man first though. He has to see that 3D, digital downloads, etc as formats which will eventually threaten to take over standard blu-ray. Waiting 2 years for a release seems like a stupid business decision.

If he does make more enhancements, let's get a digital yoda to replace that horrendous puppet from Episode 1.

Yes in one the featurettes in the ROTS DVD, they showed a digital Yoda in a scene from TPM. Looks way better than the puppet.

I'd rather have a digital actor to replace Anakin.

I love the new digital stuff. My 1080i dvhs copies look fantastic.

The hatred of Lucas on this thread would be amusing if it wasn't indicative of a serious obsessional neurosis. Time for counseling folks.

I'd hardly call critiques of movies (including discussions of the films of George Lucas and flaws in transfers of various films) an indication of "a serious obsessional neurosis". Something like this is a better indication. Of course, the "critics of the critics" never bother to criticize such things.

Yeah agree totally. Its not like Star Wars on DVD was the "box set" that gave the format momentum, PS2 did that back in '02. AVATAR has already set BD disc sales records, so why not jump in on that?

Despite all the flack Lucas has copped over the years for making changes, I find the new Emperor scene in TESB is actually very good, however having a musical in Jabba's palace in ROTJ, not so great.

I think I would have preferred the Jabba sequence in ANH to be have been an extra on the 4th disc and show the original footage of the actor walking around, not the CG JABBA. The scene doesn't add anything to the story IMO. If anything, it makes takes the character of Jabba The Hutt from gangster and underworld crime lord being a bit of a push over.

The problem with the Jabba scene in ANH is three-fold.

First, the dialog is almost identical with that if the ill-fated confrontation between Greedo and Han. The scene is not necessary at best and redundant at worst.

Second, it blows the whole Jabba reveal in Jedi (never mind the fact that he seems to have shrunk in ANH). He is (should be left as) the mystery crime lord who Han evades in ANH and is hunted by in ESB. By showing him early, he is reduced to just another alien from the Cantina.

Finally, and most important (IMO), is the fact that the first time we see the Falcon should be to the words "What a piece of junk!"... That is iconic, and Lucas completely destroyed what many feel define the Falcon in the first place.

As for me, I would simply be happy if "ANH: Revisited" were released on BD... that is leagues better than anything Lucas has ever given us...

Peace... Vader

Great points Vader.

I had not heard of "ANH: Revisited" before. Wow, that looks fascinating. I'll have to figure out how to get a copy of this and yeah a BD of it would be awesome.

obsessional neurosis! Man that is some serious stuff!

...I don't think anyone hate the guy. It's just that he butchered what was once a landmark in sci-fi, and of course the ILM demo reel prequels completely destroyed it. Bottom line he's just a bad filmmaker, and maybe people just hate what he did to his films, and to the whole franchise.
