One of my absolute all time favorite movies! The 25th Anniversary dvd looked great, I really hope the Blu Ray is a faithful transfer with little or no DNR, EE, or other beauty robbing processes.

I LOVE MOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the HK disc. Fox can really do an amazing transfer when they want to. Don't know why they think they need those Lowry buffoons to do Alien and Aliens.

Looks like its missing the "watch with the audience participation" audio feature that the laserdisc had. Anyone know if that's included as well?

According to the Blu-ray.com review score, this is apparently a worse-looking Blu-ray than Back to the Future...

The irony is indeed thick.

Great looking caps, aren't they? I've never owned ROCKY HORROR on home video. I think that's about to change...

Another nail in the coffin of the "it was filmed in the 80s on a low budget with cheap film stock" BS that someone inevitably says whenever a lousy transfer comes out.

Sorry it was filmed in 75 so they can still use "80s on a low budget with cheap film stock"

Wow, it looks like it was shot yesterday... on film!

I wish all of the important classics were treated with this degree of respect.

This fine wine is really good - it tastes like it was bottled yesterday!

The screenshots look excellent. You can tell this was a new scan from the more resolved natural looking film grain and detail. I don't think you're going to have to watch this in motion to make sure it looks good.

Watched this on receipt yesterday - great looking transfer. Only quibble is that the shots where SFX are used (including dissolves/wipes/etc.) are very noticeably worse in quality now, but that's not anyone's fault at all - just the way it was made back in the day! Would take a total re-compositing a la Star Wars to fix that! All in all, sterling effort (and proof that Fox can really do things right when they want to).

Now I'm going to wait for the imbeciles to complain that the whole film should look super sharp on Blu-ray and what the hell is all that grain/noise/dirt in the picture etc.

I must say, the UK's really been shafted packaging-wise though. I remember my 25th anniversary edition with its lovely gate-fold packaging. This time out we get a bog-standard Blu/Amaray case with just the disc inside, and a cheap slipcover. You US peeps get a lovely book and far more fantastic art to boot! Jealous!!!

I'm not sure if they cheapened out on the Deltamac edition, but both soundtracks don't exist on that version.

I cannot explain how happy I am that this has received what looks like, a stellar transfer. The 25th anniverdsary dvd is spectacularly filmlike so I was hoping this would be as well.

I LOVE MOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

From rockyhorror.com

"Video:

The Great:
A brand new transfer was created from the original camera negative, scanned at 4K resolution, and downconverted and restored at 2K resolution, specifically for this release. The image seems to have more natural flesh tones and more vibrant color reproduction than its DVD counterpart, which seemed to push towards more green hues in some shots and pink hues in others. There is a healthy helping of fine film grain in the majority of shots, and little to no digital noise reduction or edge enhancement. In these shots, the image yields even more detail than a typical release print of RHPS. For example, I learned from this disc (it being sharp enough to be able to read some of 'The Denton Affair') that Dr. Everett Scott's middle name is Zanuck! A few shots show slight print damage in the form of small vertical scratches, but these are not distracting in the least. The Blu-ray image is slightly darker than the DVD, but the increase in detail and contrast definitely makes up for this. Doing a comparison to its DVD counterpart, there seems to be slightly more picture available on either side of the framed image, and the picture geometry seems slightly improved from the DVD as well."

I LOVE MOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

The US disc DOES have the original mono soundtrack. The old audio Audience Participation track is not on ANY edition of the Blu-ray release.

I'd like to link to the full review, and the Behind The Blu articles on the 7.1 remix and 4K/2K restoration. Sadly, I haven't been on here long enough to post links, or some such B.S.

If you go to the site 'lordcloud' mentions above and click on the Blu-ray logo at the top of the main page, you'll get a menu linked to all the aforementioned articles.

Can confirm that the mono track is also present on the UK release, which is a first because the DVD omitted it. Quite curious to hear how different the original release soundtrack is - did they actually record different takes of the songs for the original film but then use soundtrack recordings to make the 5.1/7.1 versions?
