Bloody hell! There be extra features! I wonder if one of Mel's recent phone rants will be used as an easter egg?

yep this is the one-next scene the police chief and some a**hole bureaucrat talks about how it's a setup to keep Max from quitting. always liked the idea of the bureaucrat creep walking around in full Kendo practice armor!!

always thought the style of this one was the best of the lot-plus Toecutter & Bubba made great bad guys. Goose is one of my fav characters as well.

That's the original movie poster art if I recall... I'll never bag on someone using the original poster art on the cover. Case covers are SO lame these days, it's like they are designed solely to attract maximum attention on a 7-11 end cap... dumb.

Wow, indeed. Those shots do look very nice - although I can only see the compressed 720p screenshots. Certainly looks promising! I liked this one better than the other two by far. Definitely high on my list and with one of the best endings. Can't wait!

Me neither. All my movies are on the shelf with only the spines displayed. I never even look at any of the material inside the case. Waste of time, IMO.

I'm not a huge custom cover art guy, but occasionally there will be cover art created by a fan that just somehow captures the film's essence far better than the stock art, and even more rarely I'll bother to print it out and use it. Mostly I use the custom art when I use regular cases in place of the deluxe box set packaging that can be annoying or damaging to the disks (BSG anyone?).

But I know a lot of graphic artists, and they love to create custom art for almost anything - that is the target "market" for these things. It is inspiring to their hobby.

Oh, and on topic: I don't think I'll pre-order Mad Max because it will probably be on sale before Christmas and I have a huge backlog of stuff to watch, but I'll certainly get it eventually. Glad to read that it looks nice and not DNRed to death.

IMHO,

My opinions are my own, and do not necessarily reflect those of my captors.

i used to print up custom art all the time (when the custom was better than what it came with or the original had one of those infamous shiny swoosh things on it taking up a sizable chunk of the cover art) now i'm only really bothered when the case it comes in is thicker than it needs to be (imports and such) digipacks, digibooks, and older lionsgate blu-rays and universal HD DVDs with shiny spines

not bothered so much with TV seasons since those boxes are kept in their own little section of the shelf

Frys had this for $9.99 this weekend so I took the dive and made a purchase.
Watched this over the weekend and was very surprised how well it looks for a movie +30 years old.

The HD audio wasn't too bad either considering it was originally a mono track.

You can even see some film print spots, static light sprinkles and finger prints at certain times. If you watch the part where Goose is riding his bike before he crashes, you will see 3 finger prints on the right hand of the screen for about 3-5 seconds.
Glad they didn't do a lot of scrubing and try to focus on keeping the PQ intact.

Interesting, I'll keep an eye out for that. More interesting still, 3-5 seconds would be 72-120 frames. Someone with dirty hands must have been looking at that scene intently.

This might have been mentioned in the Warner anniversary thread, but just to keep it safe: WB is releasing the entire Max trilogy (welcome to BD, Thunderdome) on June 4, both in a gift set and individually. Since the operative question is probably whose transfer gets rehashed for this, I'm going to wait and see how this shakes out.

...and I need your sweet love, Latina T-Mobile girl!
