That still seems compressed below 720/1080... I think someone just ripped it from the other site and uploaded it.

All seasons released by end 2013? No way.

We will be lucky if we even get 2 seasons a year let alone more.... probably only 1 season a year.

They weren't sitting on them very long: Paramount had planned to put them out on HD DVD but when that format crashed and burned just after the first season was released they still put the rest out on DVD in short order. For the Blu-rays they decided to wait until they could tie it in with the 2009 movie.

I see them releasing the first season this summer-ish to tie in with TNG's 25th anniversary and issuing them over the course of a year leading up to the release of the new film.

The question of how long it will take to get the the entire series remastered is an interesting one. Really it comes down to a lot of factors that we do not really have answers to at this time and probably should start asking.

The things I want to know is for how long has this project been going on for? Did they start it a week after they announced the project or did they start it some time before that in secret. How long does it take to edit together each episode from the original film elements? And finally how much time it takes to get all FX elements done for each episode. That last one of course will be a different number depending on the episode a good comparison is the inner light does not seem to have that many FX elements but we all know that Best of Both Worlds will require quite a bit more work.

If I had to take a uneducated guess it would be the number of episodes they would produce in a single year originally for the next generation 20 years ago times 2.5.

You can never judge a show by its pilot episode or the half season following it.

Once the neg is found and assuming they have a meaningful EDL for rthe conform.

Scanning.... 24 hours
Conform including audio tracklaying......5 days.
Sound Mix..... 5 days (assumes 5.1 not stereo)
Grade...3 days

VFX team of 10 say 7 compers and 3 3d generalists
7 days (average.. some eps more and some eps less and some shots get repeated over the series)

soundmix ,grade and VFX can happen in parrallel....13 days...call it two weeks and I bet i'm right on the money.

On a schedule of one every six months. Which would mean about three and a half years from now to see all of TNG - or, three years from the release of the first season.

Per episode? So a theoretical maximum of 6 years from now they'll all be out. On the bright side, that's at least better than one season per year.

There are ways of speeding things up. The scanning can happen well in advance , you can run more than one team at each stage , you can farm the work out to more than one company.

Bear in mind there is no real decision making required at the edit stage , its just a conform according to the previous edit decision list.

TrekMovie has some new screenshots:

The DVD image is taken directly from the region 1 DVD in png format @ 720x540 and upscaled to 1920x1080.

Very nice! It looks like they included more of the frame around the edges too. Bonus! The blacks might be a little crushed though, but overall I am very happy!

Yeah, we're essentially getting those 16 SD pixels (now about 32 HD pixels) back that were previously taken up by thin vertical black bars in the 720x480 digital (DVD) presentation. As you can see, only the center 704 pixels had active picture information:

LOL

Marina Sirtis goes from walking dead skeleton face to flesh and blood human betazoid right before our eyes.

Loving the color fix. Also appears the lighting might be better than we all though... we just couldn't see it in the washed out, contrast boosted low def master.
