Save for the green push, I think it looks pretty good! Very interested in comparing the two 5.1 tracks.

They fit on the laserdisc in SD just fine

I was going to choose the "Near Field" mix, but for some reason, it is grayed out in the audio menu. I'm bitstreaming a Panasonic 210 to my Sony receiver.

I'd like to give it a shot, nonetheless. Thankfully there is a choice between this one and the original. Woot!

So, Mike... you gonna pick this one up? smile.gif

I don't know why folks assume a green push is always some kind of transfer flaw or revisionism. I saw an original 35mm print of Fight Club the other day and while it looked quite close to the blu-ray in terms of color for the most part, there is a considerable green hue to some scenes that is mostly dialed out of the blu-ray, most noticeably the scenes in Ed Norton's workplace. Certain types of lighting register somewhat green-ish on film.

Wait what, fight club has nothing to do with this, that was Jeff trying to emulate the look Darius had in seven due to an ego clash.
It had no relevance here at all, you may had well brought up transformers.

I keep coming back to this quote:
Quote:
According to Fincher, once Nicholas left his protective world, he and Savides would let fluorescents, neon signs and other lights in the background be overexposed to let "things get a bit wilder out in the real world".

There is something too be said for the UK in that regard, I need to see the night shots in motion to see if they replicated the ENR look correctly

I never said that or anything like that, ever. All I said is that there is more green overall than in the previous transfer. Also, I get what you're saying about lighting but that doesn't mean every single scene will be lit that way. It was more green in every shot.

You're not going to see me get sore over any non-serious video related things in the home release of movies I love. I still think Dark City and T2 are very watchable even on my 100" screen.... so yeah. I'm easy to please. biggrin.gif

both are Fincher films shot and printed photochemically, I think that's quite relevant to my point, which is that green tints are not something that started with the modern teal-and-orange fad or DIs or whatever. Never seen The Game on 35mm, just speaking in general.

One shot with ENR Super 35 by one DP the other shot spherical with ENR but not on the print you saw I would bet my life, by another DP with looks that are miles apart using ENR for completely different reasons.
It was Panic room that Fincher started to micro manage and think he was a DP (and he learnt his lesson).

Barnes & Noble sale FTW. I like what I'm seeing in the Caps-a-Holic link. So looking forward to watching this again.

Why is this title listed as temporarily out of stock on Amazon due to "technical issues?'" I haven't heard anything bad or defective about the Criterion release.... am I missing something?

I've only watched my copy once. Didn't have any issues at all played from a Panasonic BD65.
