Thrilled with this announcement.

But please, Warner, for goodness sake don't cram this film on one disc like Hamlet.

I can remember this film having quite a distinctive grain-pattern - grainy film + VC-1 + 229 mins. of film + extras + all on one disc = disgrace.

Ah, who am I kidding, that's exactly what will happen.

Amen to that.

I noticed OUATIA is 229 minutes.
I remember it as being long, but nearly 4 hours?!?!?

Very cool news. But it looks like they're gonna jam a 4 hour movie on a single BD again.

A bit disappointed they couldn't do something more with the extras. The 2-disc SE was very light and this doesn't appear to add anything to that. A commentary with Sir Christopher Frayling would've been awesome as he has a commentary on every other Leone film.

Interesting to read the "how horrible it's on one disc" comments as a contrast to the "dammit! I DEMAND the LOTR EEs on one disc!" comments.

I want a little more info on exactly what's included, but this is a big must-get for me. Possibly buy-on-sight, unless they Spartacus the thing.

...and I need your sweet love, Latina T-Mobile girl!

"Buy the Blu-ray Every New Blu-ray Player Owner Wants" is kind of an awkward tagline.

PETER JACKSON: The theatrical versions are the definitive versions.

If they can release 2hour movies on BD25 they can release 4h movies on BD50.

Good movies are as rare as an on topic discussion.

Can't Blu-ray hold around 4 hrs on one disk with decent bitrate as long as there isn't any extras?

A 4-hour movie, a minimum of 7GB wasted, 5-8 dubs, full 16:9 AR... I can almost picture the mushiness.

You'd think a movie like this would get a more elaborate edition, but despite the acclaim I'm guessing it's never been a huge seller. I just hope it's a new transfer, as the rest of the release makes it look like a port of the previous DVD, and that transfer must be pushing 8 years by now.

I have seen excellent movies that peaked at 27 so we would be fine with lower bitrate as avarage.

Its the quality of the master that effects the PQ more then anything.

I agree, LOTR needs a remaster. People say a true remaster can't be done, because of the D.I. and special effects, but I don't believe that. Though, if it's true that a remaster is not possible, well I guess I'll never have LOTR on Blu-ray as the quality looks like crap.

I mean gimme a f%#^ckin break.

Once Upon a Time in the West
Rumour is Jan. 2011, a euro site has it listed for that release date.

The best part is that they did a restoration in 2007/2008. I thought the 2003 DVD release looked amazing, so I can't wait to see the new restoration.

Sure because they provide the master. It more comes down to if they make a new master or not (2007/2008 sounds OK).

This is bull$h!+ when they are obviously using an 8 year old master! I love Leone's work but this looks on par with TGTBTU. With a bitrate of 15 mbps maybe this is proof that a 4 hour movie should be put on 2 discs.
