The first discs out of the Lionsgate deal

Will Scream finally be the Unrated cut? will they have at least all the Dvd/Laserdisc extras?
Will they look bettter than the other regions that already the the movies?
This will be the yardstick of Lionsgate's handling of there new wares, just by the nature that they are going first.
Lets see what they do....

Scream

• Audio Commentary by Director Wes Craven
• Production Featurette
• Behind the scenes: "On the Scream Set" and "Drew Barrymore"

Scream 3

That is the question on everyone's mind...
Is Scream the unrated Laserdisc/VHS Director's Cut? I think it could go either way.

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

All Theatrical, all 1080p, all with DTS MA.

Nothing new in terms of Special Features.

That's my guess.

It's a minor point but I hope that's the final cover art.

Added Extra's to OP

So if you want all the extras you will need the DVD set, no word on rating yet

I'm okay with minimal extras as long as the transfers are quality and the first one is uncut. If not, these will be getting a rental to prepare for number 4 and I'll be saving my bucks for something else.

I don't entirely understand that thinking myself. SCREAM 1 was released "cut" to theaters and it didn't seem to hurt anyone's enjoyment of the movie or its box-office in-take.

So whats the big deal about it? It doesn't change the tone or thrust of the movie -- at least not in this instance. It's just several more seconds of gore that I don't need to see to enhance my appreciation of the picture.

It exists and its the directors preffered cut, it should at very least have branching

That Lionsgate wouldn't put much effort into making them anything buy a quick cash grab. Not Uncut (not surprised by this anyway), no New Special Features and they even removed some extras from the DVD boxset. It's a quick cash grab.

As per the press release, it looks like most of the extras are there.

I'm just making my own bonus disc.

I've never seen the unrated/uncut version and I enjoyed the film. Saw it in the theaters and I think it was the start of good horror in cinema....

"How long were you in Mexico?"
" uh...a week, no, no, a day..."
"Well, which is it a week or a day?
"uh...a weekday?"

100% agreed, films being presented uncut/director's version is my #1 priority, irrespective of picture/audio quality. If the Blu-ray is edited, I'll continue stick with the Japanese DVD for now. Never cared for the sequels...

Since they've never released the Unrated Cut on DVD here in the US, I don't think they will 5 months after this release. Its like 10 seconds.

And that has stopped a studio double dip before??

Are there any scans of the back cover of the first movie yet?

Blu-ray.com's reviews for the first two films are up. I'm not familiar with the films myself but the video quality and the score given don't seem to match (in my eyes).

So are these just the same masters used on the reportedly crappy discs released in other countries? Don't think I've ever seen screenshots of any of those.

Same old HDTV masters as the other releases but at least they didn't add even more processing (at least from what I see). This thread has the shots from the Canadian discs since you asked. The encodes on those sucked so this is a slight upgrade.

Lame.

Thanks. Disappointing, but not surprising when it comes to Lionsgate.

(BTW, could you possibly re-upload your Total Recall and The Transformers: The Movie comparisons sometime in the future? I always considered them great resources.)

Terrible looking transfers. I love the first film and still only have the non-anamorphic DVD release. Was looking forward to upgrading but now I'm not sure.
