No kiddin'.. the compression noise in some of those shots is some of the worst I've seen. Ever.

Agreed. It's pretty ridiculous. When I backup 9GB retail DVDs on to 4.7GB DVDs, they don't have that kind of compression noise at all. How large are the A/V files on the DVD? Reminds me of the 'Inception' DVD, but way worse.

This was one great looking blu ray. But im not sure if I am going to keep the rip taking up space on my harddrive, I thought the movie was awful.

I dont know if i should keep it for demo material or not.

Mind if I put my original Tron comparisons here?

Blu-ray | Full bitrate HDNet (DVD is from the same master)

Looks like there's a some Lucas-ing going on in #12

Wow the Tron Blu-ray is far better.... that HDnet transfer has all that digital noise like TGSET Blu-ray. Even though some parts of the Tron Blu look a bit smoothed out it looks incredibly good

These from the 2-D only release, or the 3-D? Apparently, there is a noticeable difference in quality, with the 2-D only disc looking better.

Wow, the closeups in 4, 6, and 8 (original Tron) look like they were shot yesterday! Very nice. I had no doubts about Legacy.

I bought the 5-disc pack with 3-D Blu-ray, 2-D Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy, etc... I'm very excited!

P.S. I love both movies not matter how cheesy.

Original Tron was playing on a Sony Bravia at a local BV store today and from what I saw of it I was definitely impressed.

I think the problem is that his face in the movie looks like a younger version of his current face. Where he looked a bit different overall when he was younger.. Your mind knows this, and thinks it looks fake.. When I look at the Blu shot, there is nothing technically wrong with his (CGI) face, it just looks off.

It's the lighting that throws it off as well, I think.
