I can already hear the theme in my head. Day 1 purchase for me. Don't like the cover though.

Mike I agree, but as much as I dislike the cover I'd rather have that over whom will be releasing it for the US market- Universal (Shudders)

Who knows Universal may actual do right by this title and lay off the DNR. Time will tell.

No doubt there will also be a N. American bd release as a promotional tie-in for the August theatrical premiere of the 2011 remake...

The UK edition may be the cut version. I would wait for reviews before ordering.

why can't these studios just USE THE ORIGINAL POSTER ART instead of crap like this?

I've been wanting this for a LONG time.

Wow, the covers just get uglier by the day.

Yeah, the horse rolls are cut I would imagine.

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

As excited as I am to see that Conan is being released, I'm disappointed that it is the extended cut only and won't include the commentary from the DVD (which is hilarious).

The extended cut is awesome. The commentary is a real hoot.

Conan The Destroyer will also be released here in the US on 8/2/11. No details yet on any extras or if it will be (likely) bare bones.

Destroyer got a Special Edition DVD release from MGM/Fox overseas -- two commentaries, whole bunch of making-of segments too. If there is a Fox Blu internationally, it would likely have a lot more content on it than Universal's US release.

Please god let this not be a fail transfer. One of my favorite movies and one of the best film scores of all time. RIP Poledouris.

Dillon: My men were in that chopper when it got hit! Hopper's orders were to go in and remove grain and the detail just disappeared.
Dutch: It didn't disappear. It was scrubbed alive!

Because they feel that the original poster art may date a picture too much for the younger crowd. I personally love original poster art! Some art does not make soem great films look like they would be good while others make weak films look good!

They should put their preferred art on one side and the original movie poster cover on the reverse so that we can pick which one we would like!

Guy in Holland posted on blu-ray.com that he got Barbarian & Destroyer yesterday in store, it releases July 6. He said its by Fox, so it should be the same disc as the Fox UK release, just different cover with Dutch age advisory & text. He said he has a region B PS3 so he can't tell if it's region free. He gives it pretty high marks saying "Barbarian is pretty grainy but I believe very faithful to the source material. It looks very good but obviously not the best disc ever made. It could have been better but its miles better than that grungy dvd I have, and thats pretty much all I wanted".

I went ahead and included in pre-order for the UK release in an order from Amazon UK. If it's region B locked that's not a problem for me, and it's a bit cheaper than Amazon.com's price for the Universal release and I'll have a week or 2 earlier. I also have a deep mistrust of Universal catalog releases as they far too often apply the magic DNR grain & noise removal along with a healthy dose of EE.

EDIT: He's now posted pics of the back cover & discs, and they're marked Regions ABC so it looks like it's region free. DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 & French 2.0 DD, Dutch, French & English subtitles.
