Ok crazy low is an overstatement, but there are scenes where the dialogue is lower than it was in the cinema.

If you're properly calibrated and watch at levels like -15 because or thereabouts because it gets too loud at higher levels, there likely are some acoustical issues going on that can affect dialog. In an optimized room, you should be able to set the volume to your preferred level and never need to adjust it - regardless of the mix. Reference level in my room (-0) can be 'loud' but dialog is always clear and the sound is in control rather than distorting. When calibrating at 75 db with your meter, there is no reason other than acoustical (and equipment limitations) that you shouldn't be able to watch at reference.

I did not find the dialog low at all either. I did watch at -1 though from ref which was loud. Very awesome track I thought overall!

Just saw this last night.

Marvel has been great recently at creating sublimely mediocre superhero fair. They're just churning them out like hotdogs at an Oscar Meyer factory with little regard to story or acting or character quality.

I'm with you, thebland, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins should be ashamed at bottom feeding this much. I could barely forgive her for Your Highness... and now she goes and does Thor. She's quickly going the way of Halle Barry and Cuba Gooding, Jr.

And what happened to the usually great Kenneth Branagh?? Still paying Emma Thompson's divorce settlement?

The special effects were low rent CGI with a very video game-like look.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!

HaHa yeah but on her resume she's romanced Thor and Darth Vader......

Story is like previously mentioned, wet paper bag thin IMO.

Video, was pretty good didn't notice anything too obvious except a scene or two out of focus.

Audio, whoa momma. As far as audio and bass this one is a feast! Bass is over powering. DIY Subwoofer folks beware this one easiy was 8db hotter than the scenes I normally use for checking for clipping of my DIY Sub(inception/WOTW).
IDK if the bass was in a region that audyssey already has boost or what but I had to back the bass down 7-8db to get the clip lights to stay off..... I enjoyed this one for audio alone and story kept me just enough interested. Really cool bass stuff I rewound at least three times much to the dismay of my son......

I liked this view when I viewed it in the theater but I haven't purchased the BD. Maybe down the road for cheap but I guess that remains to be seen. Worth a rental IMHO for those that haven't seen it as I think the BD quality would please you from reviews I've read!

watched this last night night with some friends on my new 115" diag. screen. I thought the movie was 'pretty' good, with 'pretty' being loosely played around. It was def. a rental but it was certainly a notch better than a lot of the new blockbuster trash out there. Solid 3 out of 5 stars for me....
The sound was great, and my Epik Tower sub did not even flinch at the LFE. Sounded great

This was much better than I thought it would be - but after watching Transformers 3 last week anything would seem good in comparison.
Easily could have gone cheesy but I held together enough for my group and the audio was stellar. Couple of bad CGI moments but not a killer. All in all a pretty fun rental and have added to my list of Black Friday hopefuls.

I barely made it thru this one. Guess I'm just getting burned out to the whole superhero thing. Basically I'm at the point where it's just give me the last Batman sequel, and then I don't care if I see another superhero film....ever.

Since the plot was having a hard time holding my attention, I spent most of the movie trying to figure out where I had previously seen the actor playing Thor. I had to ultimately look it up in IMDB, but suffice to say that I fully expect the sequel to tell the story of how Thor joins Star Fleet and puts The Hammer to Captain Kirk's soon-to-be mother.

One mistake I made was watching this movie late at night with people sleeping, err...I mean trying to sleep. My HT is in the basement, 2 levels below the bedrooms, but the LFE was super hot as already mentioned. I've never had to do this before, but I actually turned off my HSU sub for fear of waking up the rest of the family. Turning the volume down so the sub wasn't shaking the house left the other channels too low. If I'm going to get yelled at by my wife for waking her up, it's going to be for a better movie than this.

I liked the technical aspects of the BD, but was horrified by the movie!
What a dreadful film that is! Had I known, I would not have bought the disc.
Perfect gift for people you really really hate!

Sure this is an "older film" now but I just had to mention that, watched Thor upon it's BD release with my family. We all liked it. It was better than I expected at the time. But what I've found is that this movie seems to get better the more I watch it. I wouldn't call it the best among superhero movies but I would call it a good quality rendering. But what's really entertaining to me is that we watched this again recently and everyone started catching the interconnecting references to the other Marvel films. My fiance' and kids finally started connecting the dots because they absolutely loved the Avengers. I'm lmao asking them what movies they've been watching.
