It's not the new one, so I assume it's the Twilight Time version.

I would bet you that half the people clogging up the server right now are only buying copies so they can resell them on eBay/Amazon for 2x the price or more.

Vote with your wallet. Don't buy Cinavia-infected Blu-ray Discs! Why pay a premium for pseudo-lossless audio damaged by an intrusive watermark in the audible spectrum?

I've been on that site a few times since this announcement, judging by how crappy it was to begin with, it's probably clogged because there's more than 5 people viewing it. You could be right though.

It says Disney (the remake).

It wasn't the version mentioned above, but yeah I'm guessing it was some sort of version of the remake, my bad. Anywho their site seems to be working ok, I just placed my order.

Man you're so relentlessly ignorant. Hundreds of people have placed orders for limited edition CDs on that site for years and years. Get your head out of the sand.

It's a lame backwater site that can't handle bandwidth charging me $35(with shipping) for what should be a $10 catalog release. What about this is supposed to make me happy?

Pity the poor international enthusiast, who is informed by ScreenArchives that:

Quote:

due to frequent packages not arriving to customers in your country we will not replace any lost or stolen orders unless you option for Registered Mail. Registered Mail is trackable. An additional $15 in postage will be added to your order if you select this option.

If I am not prepared to take the risk of loss, purchase of Fright Night from screenarchives will now cost me $52.05 and that is just too much: thanks Sony.

I'm amused by the sense of entitlement several people in this thread seem to have in regards to what they feel they should be getting at what price from Screen Archives.

I live in the US. Any time I order from say, Amazon Japan or UK, or CD Japan for import titles, I have to pay usually around $50 - $70+ for a single Blu-ray title, often not even including shipping (and EMS ain't cheap). Often this is for old catalog Blu-ray titles that could justifiably be priced below $15 if they came out domestically. Nobody twists my arm to buy anything at what I consider to be outrageous prices. I either accept it and buy the product or move on.

I guess I don't understand all the hand-wringing about Screen Archives/Twilight Times prices for their product or the fact someone overseas has to pay more to reliably get their product, the same thing I have to do to insure I get something from Japan or Europe.

As for issues with Screen Archives website, I've never had a problem ordering (and getting) product from their site in over 5 years of doing business with them.

Tell me about it. I was paying $125, in 1995 dollars mind you, for a Criterion edition of Pulp Fiction.

The Pioneer Special Editions LD of Mysterious Island was $40. The Blu-ray makes it look terrible in comparison and it's slightly cheaper even with shipping and tax.

Thanks for that code: it makes ordering "Mysterious Island" + "Fright Night" with registered shipping more palatable.

Most discount codes work on value of goods excluding postage.

I'm not sure what screenarchives uses, but it was working okay yesterday for me for a $65 purchase (not including postage).

It is my understanding that the code will only work if you have ordered Screen Archives product from Amazon in the past.

I don't recall ordering Screen Archives products from Amazon in the past, but I guess it is possible.

I ordered "Mysterious Island" + "Fright Night", used the code AMAZON, paid with PayPal and all was well.

Review

http://twitchfilm.com/reviews/2011/1...ray-review.php

"Fright Night has been lovingly restored and transferred in this edition, to a state that is far beyond what attention it would have been given at its big studio home. The image is pristine, the colors are awesome, and detail is immaculate. This disc is every bit as good as Mysterious Island was, with the added advantage of not having to contend with so many in camera plate effects. I was, frankly, stunned by the sharpness of the image, but more so with the vivid color palette that is a huge leap from the ancient DVD image we're used to. The DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio track is a winner also. Fright Night was shot in Dolby stereo, but Twilight Time have released this new edition with a lossless audio track remixed to all 6 channels."

I just ordered this. They scared me into paying the extra $15 for registered mail, because a lot of packages go missing in Canada

I paid because the original Fright Night is one of my top 5 movies of all time.

Make sure you read the comments to the review, for an unofficial bonus.

I also had to pay the $15 registered post supplement, to ensure it doesn't go walkabout in its travels to me and lose the investment: "Fright Night" and "Mysterious Island" are two of the most expensive single Bluray titles I have ever purchased.
