A UK re-release with new packaging, no word on lossless or AVC/VC-1 yet

Even if this set is also available in North America,I'll wait for the inevitable M-I:1-2-3-4 ultimate collection...

New encodes might give Paramount the excuse to DNR the hell out of the first two movies though. MI is one of the best looking Paramount catalogue titles I've got in my entire collection, and while MI2 looks kinda cruddy, it's more 'old transfer' cruddy than 'DNR'ed the living hell out of it' cruddy.

I just bought the existing BD boxset, but add lossless, re-encode the video without ****ing with it and I'll happily rebuy these again. And while they're at it, they can throw in the missing Ben Stiller MI2 spoof too.

Hasn't the original always been PG in the UK?

The film is still PG, but one of the extra features bumped up the rating to 15. It's the same on the current Blu-ray edition.

I think Cruise is out after 4, so I would be more likely to do the same and just have the Cruise films in one set.

I already have the old set, and am now trying not to buy any sets if new films are being made in the series.
Fast and Furious for example I won't buy any till they finish making them, even tho there is a new set with every film.

These beg for AVC/DTS-HD MA on BD50s but Paramount has a history or changing cover art in the US for no reason. I don't recall them doing this in the UK though.

Nope, you read it right the first time. Paramount have put out some utter turds, but this ain't one of 'em. Still looks kinda hinky compared to something from Fox or Warners, mind you, but that's par for the course.

There is grain visible in some shots.

I will laugh if the "Maximum Impact Collection" has lossy audio.

PETER JACKSON: The theatrical versions are the definitive versions.

Paramount is one of few who still bump up the bitrates so I have faith in nice avc PQ and lossless audio this time around.

Just heard of this. Potentially exciting news. I've been waiting for a decent release of these. In my searching for the lossless question, I found a clue. First off, it's also getting a U.S. release on 12/06. Secondly, the Wal-mart product description lists DTS-HD MA (along with "Dolby Digital 5.1" so ... well, there ya go)

Yep, "there ya go"... cut 'n' paste placeholder specs on a Website.

I don't feel special...

Don't get excited. Saw the separate releases in a Manchester store - all three listed only DD5.1 on the rear cover, just like the old discs. This collection will simply be a repackaging into one case

I'll remain optimistic until I see official, or at least more reliable, word.

You know... since this has been out for two whole weeks now in the UK and there are ZERO(!!) reviews, my optimism is starting to wean. If it were a set worth buying, then surely, someone would've picked it up and made some sort of comment on it SOMEWHERE! ... One would think.

makes me think repackage, no way I am ever buying a movie series set again while they are still making sequels.
