Launches only 3 weeks after announcement?

Back to Dolby TrueHD in 7.1 no less.. Aren't all Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks discrete?

$29.99 SRP for a BD/DVD/DC combo?

Seems very odd?

Michael

I'm guessing it might be worth it to wait for the 3D release seeing as apparently this was one of the "good" 3D theatrical releases.

It's the best use since avatar, it also slowed Bay's camera down.

It will be nice to watch it again, but this time having the ability to skip every scene not involving robots. I love Transformers, but this movie was painful to watch. I might make my own cut and remove about an hour's worth of useless dialogue and slapstick.

is this gonna be some sort of movie-only edition followed by the complete package a few months later? If that's the case maybe I'll wait.

[edit]hmm according to this:
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...nnounced_/7622 it doesn't include any extras. So..yes, I'll wait.

No difference. Just surprised to see TrueHD again. Dolby has been MIA from the vast majority of BD releases in the past couple years.

Plus... you know... I had a in there too.

Michael Bay realized how bad Revenge of the Fallen was and tried to make amends with Dark of the Moon. It's still not as good as the first film.

Amazon has it available for preorder but at a very steep $31.49 (ouch!) especially for a barebones release. I don't even want to know how much they're planning on listing the 3D and special editions for..

Yes according to mixer Greg Russell, they did a HT version and there will be both 7.1 and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD tracks.

Kind of a waste, unless he's talking about the TrueHD track being 9.1 channels.

For those who don't know, 7.1 TrueHD is actually 9.1 channels with an optimized rear-left surround and rear-right surround added to the bitstream for 5.1 setups. The three front channels are the same, if the system is set to 7.1 it substitutes the side-left and side-right and adds the surround back left and surround back right channels instead.

My opinions do not reflect the policies of my company

I don't get the separate 2.0 lossy mix? It would make sense for True HD as the 2.0 and 5.1 could be part of the 7.1 as True HD can do that!

Why even bother with those DD English tracks? Just have the 7.1 track and the foreign tracks and thats it...

I'm convinced this has gotta be a typo and that they mean discrete 5.1 and 2.0 TrueHD. Every TRUEHD track has to have a discrete DD track. The only diff would be adding a 2.0. I can't believe they'd make a big deal over a 2.0 DD track?

Perhaps the "first" is the 7.1 TrueHD track, and there's a typo where that description was placed.
