Fridays are usually pay day??? This makes it more likely people will buy this week instead of buying something else and waiting. I remember seeing something posted a long time ago regarding off day releases, but can't remember what was said.

Got the UK release today.Just watched Phantom Menace.Yes DNR is obvious but the movie looks incredible.Blows the crappy dvd away.Thinking maybe its been done this way to bring it in line with the look of Clones and Sith.I'm certainly no expert on these matters.
The soundtrack is fantastic, cannot fault it.
The new Yoda looks great as well.

Cool! I was worried about when those newer ep1 pics surfaced with the DNR. Oh well. I'll take 1080p DNR'd a bit over the barely 480i EE'd to hell and back crapfest that was the dvd of ep1. And we get DTS-MA 6.1 lossless which negates any DNR for me.

It's hard for me to comprehend DTS-MA with this movie.

Not sure about the rest of the globe, but X Men 1st Class was also released in the US on a Friday - last Friday, in fact.

It's all a conspiracy. I don't work on Tuesdays so movie releases usually work out perfectly for me. Now they're out to get me because they know I'm busy on Fridays and Saturdays.

I've had trouble with the SW flicks on my Sony S470, just like the Alien set and Avatar CE. No in-playback issues as such, just a random failure to load the disc which needs the power plug pulled and the machine restarted.

Oh, when I play the UK discs in Region A mode I get the usual FBI warning and MPAA rating screens. It's a good bet that they're the exact same platters (only with better disc art) as the ones you guys will be getting this week. The UK packaging only lists the English language options, but there are actually several more audio languages and even more subtitles.

The UK version has the 9-disc "hub" design similar to the UK Aliens anthology packaging. The US has the slide out cardboard packaging.

Hence the word similar, not identical. Both employed the "hub" design vs. the slide design used by the US version.

A digistack is Digi's on top of each other that opens like pages in a book.
The fold out is like a 5ft digipack that folds out into a long strip.

Yes, I realize that. My point was the use of the "hub" design to hold the BDs in place, which both the digi and fold out use vs. the cardboard slide out.

In the other thread and in a UK review, there was mention of frozen grain in the originals from the Lowry process. Is this just in a few scenes?

Whole film, but you see it more in some places than others.

Yup, cause like all small indie productions, Star Wars might not sell well.

The Saga streets 9 years and 11 months to the day the DVD of Episode 1 came out.

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

So I guess LucasFilm can say they released the Star Wars Saga on HD Disks within 10 years of the beginning prequels?

Or something to that effect????

I recall a 2002 Vanity Fair article that called the AOTC the most expensive indie flick ever produced, and called Lucas "Jim Jarmusch with a gargantuan budget".
