Woh! Those are some fantastic 80's catalog titles, I'm really surprised they'd release them like this.

This makes me wonder what will become of the Airplane! and The Naked Gun sequels...

I don't feel special...

I saw it in the paper sunday, but assumed everyone here knew and I must of missed it. Then I saw another site mentioning not knowing about stripes. Dida search here and couldnt find anything. All are 14.99 by the way.

I'd be a fool to hope for the legendary 90 minutes worth of deleted scenes for Planes, Trains and Automobiles and I am a fool.

Of course, Stripes is the title I'm most interested in......

After surfing around a bit, I've read folks saying they've seen all four titles on the shelves today. Sadly, sounds like only the extended cut of Stripes is offered...roughly 20 min of additional, "eh" material. Supposedly the PQ is nice however, no tampering and a "decent" layer of grain throughout." Hope the price is fair at BB when I swing by in a few, if not, I'll pass...

edit: bah, no luck at the local store, none of these titles present.

I hope it doesn't have the graphic from the DVD that popped up every time one of the new/extended scenes was on.

Surely the DVD marker was a subtitle file, that was defeatable.

Not that it matters, I doubt the BD would have it.

I will defiantly get PTA this weekend. One of my favorite John Candy movies.
Will Pass on the other 3 although Stripes might get bought if it comes down to $10 range.

May the Force be with you.

I picked up Airplane! and Naked Gun today, I didn't realize that they would be in lenticular slip covers which was nice. I passed on Stripes for now since $14.99 was the stickered retail price, so I'm guessing it will be available under $10 soon.

+1

I picked it up and returned it unopened when I realized it was the extended version only. The extra material KILLS the timing and pacing of the movie (and Reitman agrees).

If its truly only extra material added then it wouldn't be hard to edit it out at gop idr I frames with avisynth for video and decode the DTS-HD MA to pcm and cut it as well with avisynth by frame. Then use DTS-HD Master encoder suite to re-encode the PCM to save space.

Also Alex Cox's "Sid & Nancy" is out too.

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

Why a "guilty" pleasure? Everyone -- critics and audiences alike -- loved the original THE NAKED GUN when it came out.

That truly sucks about STRIPES...the extra scenes slow the film down and stop it dead in its tracks. Hopefully it'll show up on HDNet Movies again soon so I can grab the theatrical cut instead.

I think people have forgotten what the term "guilty pleasure" actually means.

Proper usage:

When I watch THE NAKED GUN, it's not a guilty pleasure.

When I watch ROLLER BOOGIE with Linda Blair, THAT'S a guilty pleasure.

A guilty pleasure is something one enjoys and considers pleasurable despite feeling guilt for enjoying it. The "guilt" involved is sometimes simply fear of others discovering one's lowbrow or otherwise embarrassing tastes. Fashion, video games, music,[1] movies[2], and junk food can be examples of guilty pleasures.[
