I was curious what others had to say on here and I wonder if there is an official review thread that might hit on the highlights pq wise that I noticed. Anyway, I think the Red/Digital has its own ‘quality’ of clarity of image. I’m guessing the greens of those lush tropics, etc. would have been a measure more rich on film, but they didn’t look ‘bad’ on digital. In fact, I was personally impressed by the skin tones – which seemed to play a reoccurring major role. Lots of tight face shots. Blackbeard’s outfit looked pretty incredibly textured as well I noted. I thought the sound was really immersive – I’m not sure what it might have been missing for others.

It was entertaining; I’m not sure how it ranks against the others in this franchise. It was worth the rental in the very least.
