Can't wait to watch the opening to Manhattan.
I remember a couple of weeks after 9/11 here in Manhattan that we were all shell shocked and I had some friends over and we watched it and had tears in our eyes by the end of the scene. Was both cathartic and healing.
Just received Annie Hall from Amazon. On my PS3, the sound is very noticeably out of synch with the audio during the feature. The trailer though is fine which leads me to believe it is an encode issue.
All PS3 firmware is up-to-date. Is anyone else having the same issue?
Stereo, as in Mono delivered in 2 channels of sound.
Still being mono...
Having just watched Manhattan last night, this is a problem with the audio possibilities. The choices were limited: all channel stereo, mono movie mode, or stereo (2 channel with no center speaker active), or center speaker (that seems to be the default) alone. Cannot matrix this into 5.1 or 7.1 probably because there is nothing to extract via PLII-X.
It is very strange to see the trailer for Midnight in Paris on the Midnight in Paris blu-ray in 5.1 audio and the movie being in 2.0. There is quite a difference. That is just Woody Allen being stubborn, dense, and probably someone who clings to a two channel speaker system.
Are you confident that Allen was involved in the technical aspects of the audio on the BD ?
Yes, all of his films seem to be the same and that is because he insists upon it. There is no LFE, just 2.0 and that is not really true stereo but the equivalent of 1.0. As I wrote, just watch the trailer on the Midnight in Paris blu-ray. Maybe his hearing is deficient and he can only hear mono so that he wants us all to have his same experience.
