A dazzling Herzogian approach to the "world's first art gallery"....Chauvet Cave in southern France.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chauvet_cave
Herzog was highly restricted in how and what he could show by the French govt.
Due to the fragility of the site, access is extremely restricted.
This release comes on a dual-layered disk with 3D and 2D blu-ray presentations.
Since I don't have the necessary hardware, I can't speak to the quality of the 3D video.
While the 2D BD isn't as sharp as I had hoped, little can be done due to the < state of the art equipment used to record the images.
No matter...check this disk out and if you do, do NOT
skip the fantastic (and only) Extra: Ode to the Dawn of Man
It shows the recording of the hauntingly fantastic score by Dutch cellist Ernst Reijseger.
It nearly moved the wife and I to tears.
Hopefully, this receives an Oscar nomination, more folks need to experience this music.
Ordered the CD, something I rarely do.
