Details on the Criterion release:

http://www.criterion.com/films/28034-koyaanisqatsi

Aspect ratio is listed as 1.85:1 so I gotta believe that if this is coming from Criterion, it is the director's preferred framing.

No info if these are new transfers or just the old ones cleaned up.

The first line in the press release says:

Special Features:

New, restored high-definition digital transfers of all three films, approved by director Godfrey Reggio, with 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks on the Blu-ray editions.

Looking forward to seeing these on BD. Here's hoping the transfers are worthy and bug free.

You'd think so. Maybe he only had a 4:3 TV...

Has the "early demo version of Koyaanisqatsi" ever been released before? That special feature sounds like it could be amazing.
