Sony has to do something with all those 1 disc versions of Casino Royale...

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

Thank god I kept my CE edition of Casino Royale and the other blu rays as the new extras seem on the disappointing side and on this day and age we will be able to get these new extras on **********s and other websites within days if not within weeks after the Sep 25th release. I will hold off buying this set I it remains $199, I would buy it if it comes down to $159-$169 area.

I really think some retail store will get the titles individually. A promotion for Skyfall cannot subsist on a single Boxset.

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.

Well, this at least means my Amazon pre-order from mid-January will be locked in. Ultimately, bonus disc aside, I'm getting this set for the films I don't have--pricewise the BDs for those nine individual movies, barring the inevitable sale six or so months out, would likely cost about as much as the set itself (see also BSG).

...and I need your sweet love, Latina T-Mobile girl!

The product page at Amazon now has the title--Bond 50: The Complete 22 Film Collection (includes Amazon Exclusive Hardcover Book)

Quote:

Box set includes an open slot for forthcoming James Bond film.

Hardcover Book also included with 50 Years of Movie Posters that provide a kaleidoscope of Bond imagery that captures, distils and defines the lasting appeal of cinema's most compelling superspy.

Here's a look at the packaging:

PETER JACKSON: The theatrical versions are the definitive versions.

Here's a look at the packaging:

On one hand, I'm glad the packaging isn't like a lot of others where the discs can come loose and get scratched up. On the other, looks like I'll have to invest in BD cases/custom art covers.

I haven't seen a lot of these films in over 20 years, so I'm looking forward to seeing them in full HD glory.

I still have my preorder at AmazonUK for around 80 pounds shipped. As long as the exchange rate is still favorable I'll still get it since the price ends up being over 30% cheaper than AmazonUS at the current exchange rate.

This from thedigitalbits ......

"UPDATE RE: The Bond 50 BD set extras - I've just heard back from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. As expected, the list posted yesterday - and included in the official press release - was simply a "marketing highlights" summary. The comprehensive list of extras on the discs in the box set is significantly longer. We'll post additional details as the studio makes them available."

Hollywood seems to be getting into habit lately by dropping the extra bonus disc for many double-dipped movies? They must have decided that it's much profitable to only reprint the box artwork or repackaging them than trying to add new contents to the movie.

According to Casino Royale description in the triple-dipped edition, it's probably "recycling" the same disc from the 1st edition. But the 1st edition has Bond Girls are Forever which isn't listed in the triple dipped edition. Also, Bond Girls are Forever got updated to include Casino Royale in the CE. If Sony does update the audio from PCM to DTS MA/TrueDolby for the new edition, maybe they didn't want to bother which Bond Girls are Forever to bring over and simply drops it.

141.83 USD at today's exchange rate is pretty good.

That's what I was thinking, a press release for 22 movies wouldn't list every single scrap of info.

I don't know if they are region B or not. I will never watch the actual discs so for me it shouldn't matter. I'll put them in storage once I rip them to my server. Hopefully it won't be an issue.
I guess I need to sell the current Bond BDs I have to cover some of the cost of the box set.

That is pretty good. No, I take that back. It's excellent! Under $7/film.

Still waiting for caps of GoldenEye though...

When I placed my order on Amazon.uk last week, the price came out to just under $123 USD shipped.

I'm hoping we'll get some early reviews a few weeks out - because I'll have to cancel if they're not region-free.

Just bear in mind that the region B set won't carry the original audio tracks. I bought the previous Bond Blu-rays from the US for that very reason, but for £90 all in I think I can live without them.

Why not? Has the lossless ENG track been replaced with lossless Limey?

Or are you referring to the original mono and stereo tracks?

Yes, the mono and stereo tracks. I didn't think that that needed spelling out. Bloody colonials.

Any further news on the Bond 50 set?

Maybe more information at Comic Con in July??

Can't wait for the set. I am hoping additional extras (in addition to the UE DVD and current blu ray ones) are added to the individual films.

As cool as this looks I still think it's kinnda dumb for the people that own a bunch of the old ones already Like okay YEAH it would be nice to own all the bonds as one set but I'm going to really go out and get this when I already own 12 of the 20 already on Blu-ray or DVD. If i didn't own ANY OF THEM then it would be worth it smile.gif But personally I'm gonna wait it out and see what happens. I can't see them JUST releasing this one set of them and saying "Okay that's it no more bonds" They did the same thing with the bonds on VHS,one big boxset of all the current ones, then eventually they all trickled out onto single VHS AND they did it again when they released all the (Current) ones on DVD and then slowly they too also trickled out on to single DVD's. so this will probably be like the star-Wars. This is like the first major boxset but they will continue to release more and more versions of them so if we wait it out they'll eventually release the remaining bonds that aren't currently on blu-ray on to either single disc steel book versions of them or possible in the volume format. cool.gif And if they do I'll be buying them it'll probably also be around the time the NEXT bond either comes out on DVD blu-ray OR when the next next bond is being released in theaters(the one after skyfall)biggrin.gif

The thing I think is funny is that so many have posted "I'm gettin' the set because I only paid, like $6.99 each for the ones I have". I find it funny because they are throwing away what was a good deal by rebuying them. But, hey, to each his own.

The impending release of the Wal-mart exclusives of several Bond titles tells me they'll release all the remaining singles. I don't happen to want the entire collection. I think some of the Bonds are poor movies. I only need 2 or 3 more to have all the Bond I need.

I'm planning on picking up the Bond 50 set. I sold my individual titles back in January.

I do hope Wal Mart or another retailer does end up having the individual titles for sale as well. Especially since many were buying them as they were released.

Is there further news from Wal Mart about the 3 exclusive titles?

Diamonds Are Forever, Goldeneye and Octopussy.

I would think if they have 3 of them they would also reissue the ones that were previously available as well. Hopefully all of them are going to get a release in October or so.

The original "For Your Eyes Only" movie poster art work should have been used. It screamed this is a Bond Movie!!!

Heck, most of the original artwork was better than the Photoshop hack jobs you're seeing above.

Are these re-releases of the already in print Bond flicks the same encodes or are they better... or worse? And are the transfers for the rest of them of high quality? That's what I want to know.

MGM and Fox, like Universal, do not leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling when it comes to catalog titles.

Will Fox do a "Patton" or "Four Weddings and a Funeral" on the Bond franchise or will it do a remastered "French Connection?" I'd take the latter over the formers any day.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!
