The MPAA probably hasn't seen Airplane! since 1980. There's never been a reason for Paramount to resubmit it, since MPAA ratings can be used across as all media (theatrical and video). Studios rarely resubmit a movie unless they've altered it or unless they hope for a lower rating, though some movies have had their ratings bumped up on resubmission -- mostly titles from the early days of the rating system. Diamonds Are Forever was presumably resubmitted to the BBFC because Fox needed a certificate for digital distribution, which is now coupled with a video certificate. They've got a decent racket going there.

MovieMars says in their shipping policy that if you order 5 days or more before the release date, you should receive the item on release day.

Thanks, but it doesn't do us any good if they don't have anymore of the Bond 50 Blu Rays to sell. If you ordered one below $150, congrats.

http://www.totalfilm.com/reviews/blu-ray/bond-50

To be frank, this "review" is garbage. We want technical details of the movies, how different they look vs. DVD, any EE, DNR. Have the cropping issues of The Spy who Loved Me and Goldeneye been fixed? Also this reviewer doesn't delve further iinto the bonus disc. On the being Bond segment, are the interviews with the 6 actors who have played Bond from 2012 or archival (old) interviews (As I am suspecting).

Sorry you didn't snag one, I was just informing those that did manage to get in on the sale that they should receive their copy on or around release day.

No worries. I pre-ordered the UK vesion. The packaging looks really nice and neat and will be below $130 (to the US). That's the main reason why I not going to buy individuals. The photos of the Box looks great. Of course there are caveats to the UK box and I'm willing to accept them such as not having the original mono and region B locked discs on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. I already have Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace on Bluray. I will just subsitute those disc and put the ones I have into new pacakge. The bonus disc is region B locked so I won't be able to play it for now. I just get the feeling that we will be disappointed with the contents of the bonus disc. There is no clue whether the interviews with the Bond actors are recent (2012 sitdowns, perhaps Roger Moore and Daniel Craig's interviews were made this year) or archival (As I suspect may the case for Connery, Lazenby, Dalton and Brosnan). We may learn nothing new that hasn't been told before. That's my biggest worry between the $60-$80 difference between the US and UK sets. As far as the exclusive book is concerned, I couldn't care less, it adds weight to the package and in some months time we weill be able to download it at Amazon Kindle.

Note that according the the images of the discs on the back of the UK's Bond 50 box, Casino Royale is Region-B locked as well.

I have no doubts that the PQ will be very good, the 007 franchise is MGM's crown jewel. Whether they fixed the issues (cropping and some minor issues) on Goldeneye and The Spy Who Loved Me is another matter and only the truest Bond affectinados will be able to tell us. The bonus disc concerns me the most, we may not learn anything new that we haven't known before as maybe there isn't much to say regarding the 60's-70's period. Many of the early Bond principals are now deceased.

We will know soon enough. I'm under the assumption that NO mono for the UK release (That's why its way cheaper in USD terms vs. the US box) and that the cropping in Goldeneye still exists. There's no way they did another restoration after the 2006 UE release. Remember we should be lucky that MGM is able to function, there was massive concern that we would never see another Bond movie (or the upcoming Hobbitt movies)

That's up to you. It's not a deal breaker for me if they didn't fix the Goldeneye cropping issue. If they didn't fix it here it means they never will.

There's a scene early in GoldenEye (around 20 minutes in) where he uses a high-tech monocular. If the numbers on the edges are lopped off, then the cropping remains.

Hmm. I'm not sure if its the frame that's cropped. How is the PQ on Goldenye so far vs. the UE edition?

Good for you. TLD is a great film. Any chance of color regarding the bonus disc. I get the feeling that with the exeption of Roger Moore and Daniel Craig, the new interviews on the bonus disc are more like archivals (pre-2012).

I really liked GoldenEye. Of course I always liked Brosnan as James Bond too. I liked him as the best modern Bond, although second to Connery.

I also see that Movie Mars still has the US version for $149.06 shipped. Which is a good deal. But I'll stick with my UK Amazon order. Hopefully I still get triple reward points from Amazon even though it's the UK one.

Ok, thanks very much. If it's archival interviews then for sure the right choice was made regarding the UK box.

I think we have the answer: the UK box is the way to go. There is news leaking out that Sean Connery DID NOT participate in any new interviews for the upcoming box set. The rift with the producers continues (over royalties: what else is new with Connery)

"Former leading men like Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore and directors Michael Apted, Martin Campbell and Guy Hamilton have all contributed to tens of extra hours of commentaries and content about their role in the movies in the box set"
"Fans will be left with old interviews from Connery promoting his movies back in the 1960s"

Wow! this is huge news. No chance in hell I will buy the US box set, UK is the way to go.
