Haven't seen it in decades, but really looking forward to its U.S. release.

I'm looking forward to the US release too. I have an all regions BD player but am unwilling to pay $40 plus for the European release to get it sooner. I'm cheap so I'll wait until it becomes available in the US.

I remember too. And I went to see it several times in the theater as a kid. Loved it!

I have the Blu-Ray but I haven't hooked up my region-free Oppo player yet so haven't seen it. But I did, by coincidence, watch the DVD with my 13 year old son only about 4 months ago.

It's extremely dated in many respects, of course style-wise. But it's still quite entertaining and fun. What hasn't dated at all IMO is Yul Brynner's performance as the sinister robot gunfighter. It was a huge reason for the film's power when I was younger, and it's just as good as I remembered it.
I'm not sure anyone has done better portraying such grave, calm, cool, sinister robotic menace. Best part: after shooting you-know-who, the slow turn from robotic cool to wry smile. Charisma just oozes from the guy, but seeing it bottled like that and just enough let out to suggest what it beneath...it just works like hell somehow.

I just tried this Blu-Ray on my Region-Free modified Oppo BDP-93. I'm getting a wicked audio delay on the english track. Anyone else have this issue?

Just curious--where does the delay pop up, or is it constant? Both of the DVD releases, IIRC, exhibited a bit of delay in certain scenes (Daphne's first appearance, for instance).

It's consistent throughout the whole Blu-Ray (I sampled various scenes)

That's strange. One guy over at HDD mentioned coming across a delay issue as well in the opening scene (before the credits, from the sound of it), but nothing else throughout the rest of the movie. Could it be some sort of weird player-versus-disc quirk?

What RF mod does the 93 have?

"I wonder if any of the releases had slipcovers though."
"Are these comfirmed to have slipcovers?"
"They look nice in those slips."
"This slipcover looks too good to pass up."

Not sure: I just ordered it with the region-free hardware installed (as opposed to external version). I don't suppose that helps much.

Here is the page for the installed chip. Apparently you can get it separately, used externally. I chose the option of having this company sell me the Oppo with the chip installed internally (I presume it's the same chip).

From a fellow mod'ED 95 owner on another forum I believe I all so have the Oppo "Pro" region free mod.
Too me, its NOT "region free"; it's region selectable.
As you have too program the 95 too play an out-of-R1 disc.
Not a BIGGIE, just not region "free" (as the player will not play all discs w/o some work).

I was asking in case the audio issue is a hardware issue; if it is, we're both screwed cause I think we have the same "RF" mod.

I see.

Yes, I agree it's not quite "region free" as I expected it to work and it's a bit of a hassle.
I'm still tracking down this problem - I've had lipsync issues with other titles as well so it may not be the Westworld disc.

Thanks for the updates.
Lucky for me I just TiVo HD it. So, no neED too rush into buying it.
I thought the movie did hold up. Even the behind the scene tech wasn't distracting as it was entertaining (IMO).
LookED good. Just TONS of "Comcastist Compression" (TM); don't wish too completely judge this title based solely on what it looks like on cable. Tho colors were strong & there was some depth in some scenes (the knight fight & the damsel in prison scene).

Like was previously posted: 'Great too see the ORIGINAL terminator'!!!.

Where did you find Westworld on cable? I did a title search on my TiVo but it didn't turn up anything. Because hope springs eternal, I also setup an Auto-record Wishlist entry for the film.

I caught it last month (4-22-12). Don't see that its coming again soon on that cable channel.

For what it's worth: the US BD release is currently scheduled for March 5, 2013.
