Marginal plot, uninspired use of 3D, and VERY dark. I have no desire to rewatch this movie in 2D . . . and I would NEVER watch this movie again in 3D!

Wait... was I supposed to be watching these for anything but Kate?

I enjoyed the first and second film, but not the third (no Kate). I wanted to see this in the theater, but there's just never enough time... I'll probably blind-buy, but only for 2-D.

Liked it myself (maybe not close to the cracking goodness of 1+2) and saw it 2 times in 3D, so the Blu Ray will be good to see in 2D (and the 3D will get a spin as well). Mind you the 2D may be the way to go for me just so I am not too distracted

Easily the best of the bunch for me. The first two I've never seen as wholly successful, but this one thankfully dispenses with a lot of the pretentious historical/political falderol of the first two, logically booting the premise forward out of that rut and inro newer territory (for this property). And it does it with a kickazz sense of urgency that never let's up. To me, it was a pulpy, popcorn movie in the best sense. Although a lot of critics panned it, David Ansen saw it exactly as I did. track his review down for a good contrary take to the seemingly popular bandwagon opinion.
Oh and screw the 3D version. this film was too dark to merit that overused gimmickry.

Really? It has 6.7 on imdb. That is actually not too bad. Usually if a movie is horrible it doesn't have anything above 6.

What, as in the whole film? Pirates: Stranger Tides used the Epic for pickups, and about a third of Fincher's Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was shot on Epic.

It,(the franchise), has an unholy amount of fanboy/girls.

I will say that this is the worst of the films, and represents the first slide in terms of how I perceived them. (I liked Rise of the Lycans more than Evolution, and Evolution more than Underworld.)

Most of the time, it felt like an 80 minute trailer for Underworld 5.

This won't be a popular opinion, but this disc sounds awful. It's nothing but a bass hog. There's no subtlety to the mix whatsoever. Everything makes loud booms as if that's supposed to cover up the nightmarish film. I couldn't even hear most of the surround use because the LFE was so ridiculously overactive.

Maybe I'm just getting older and cranky, but it reminded me of one of those CDs back in the '90s meant to push nothing but bass. They even came with warning labels. That's what this reminded me of.

As for the movie itself, I like this series on a basic level, but this one was a mess. There's no time spent to even develop a villain, and the story told in flashback -the purge- is miles more interesting than what's developed later.

Hmm...

Reminds me of the "DTS is better because the LFE is louder" scenario. Aggressive bass = good audio? I love bass very much, but Hollywood has gotten a bit out of control with its liberal application of it. The film "Hot Fuzz" poked fun at this, but only people with decent audio systems got the joke. LOL

I have to agree that the LFE is over-done to an extreme. But some people like that.

Audio is very subjective for a variety of reasons. Most are raving about this one, and not just the LFE. Nearly everyone is talking up how awesome the surround is as well. Curious to hear it for myself though.

If you haven't seen this particular installment- do yourself a favor and rent it/netflix it, etc... before you shell out for the BD.

To me, this was nowhere as enjoyable as the earlier Underworld films- including the one without Kate. I actually liked Rhona Mitra as the lead in "Rise of the Lycans", she's a little more stout than the petite miss Kate. Rhona Mitra also had the lead in Doomsday (2008) mostly dressed in skintight outfits or less- and she absolutely kicks butt throughout the film.

I have watched the 2d version from 3d disc and do think the audio is good. LFE is a bit overblown in parts and hugely over blown in one.

That part is...Spoiler alert!

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Where Selene first meets the super Lycan. Foot steps mad my sub loose control. During the fight as well. Think LFE was way too hot as her gun shots happening at the same time have the same distortion but sound fine in the rest of the movie.

Now this of course is system specific. I have a Velo DEQ 15 so I consider it mid capable sub. Those with less capable subs might have more issues those with better may have none.

My review comparisons of Energy RC-70s to Veritas V6.3
