Which version is this? If I'm not mistaken it's not out in U.S. yet. No release date either btw... That said I'd pass on this one, that green is laughable.

Love this move. Glad I had some practice toning down green by way of FOTR, will need to put those tweaks to use here.

Ya know, I just picked this up. On my THX/calibrated Panny plasma I'm not seeing so much the green above but more of an aqua-marine teal-fest which appears intended and matches the tone of the case artwork. Oh, well. But it doesn't look as magically delicious as I was expecting the color scheme to be based on the screenshots I've seen here and elsewhere.

YMMV.

Oh, and the included short, Rings, is in fact in 1080. Looks great. Can't wait to spin this up with the feature film later.

Just saw the whole film on my FP setup, which reflects what I saw via the plasma. Those Lucky Charmed screenshots on the right do not reflect what I saw. A lot closer to the screenshots on the left - very teal-ey to be sure. The Day titles that come up throughout the film (i.e. "Wednesday") are totally white.

Bitrate barely went below 39mbps and stayed above 40 every time I checked. Impressive.

DVD is going into the retirement/sell-back bag.

Are there links to the full image versions of the non blu-raydefinition one?

Looking at the full images at blu-raydefinition it appears to have nice fine detail and film grain but the re-coloring is so saturated that it screams newly digitally induced like the Apocalypse Now BD.

I am sure there will be those who will claim that's how it looked in 2001 just as they (probably some of the same persons) claimed LOTR really looked like the two BDs in theater which was bs, I saw LOTR in theater when it first came out and it looked like neither of the BD versions.

Well that's just sad then cause I remember vividly how it looked. Both in theaters and on DVD which I still have. It has nothing to do with this. That's one of my favorite films and damn I'm pissed! There's one thing that escapes me and that's simply "why"? There's absolutely no reason to change the color in the first place. What do they want to achieve by doing so?

I was going to say - the titles on the bottom come out as white. Not as bothersome as the caps above for sure.

And note the freaky lenticular slipcover effect on the exclusive. Best Buy will have it for $12.99 on Tue.

You see me reaching for my f****** wallet?!?

Well there you go - Best Buy Canada is not gonna have anything on tuesday.

@Flexx that's a bit reassuring.

That's good to hear, but does anyone have screencaps of the new BD that clearly show it's not as green as posted above?

Transfer looks quite nice to me. Not sure why blue is okay but green isn't, since both those sets of captures are anything but naturalistic.

The issue is whether the new transfer is an accurate representation of the final approved color timing by the director or some helpful revisionism by whomever worked on this release.

From what I vaguely recall the Ring was always bluish not green. Evidently Green is the new Blue for color timings.

Because blue was all over the color timing of the theatrical release. Teal was not.

I loved the remake, but am not keen at all on the colour timing of this BD release.

Would like to see full HD caps.

As I mentioned the full HD caps are at blu-raydefinition, where the other version has full HD caps I do not know.

That last shot seriously reminds me of the Blu-ray for The Matrix when they go to the Adams St. Bridge.

However, if I didn't enter this thread, I don't think I would have noticed. I might have said something to myself deep inside, like "There's something a little different about this..." but I don't know if I would have cared.

When I see a movie trailer I can now spot if it has orange & teal instantly which I consider a good skill to have.

The screen caps at Bluray.com don't look as green. There's definitely a greener tint but it doesn't look as severe. Just did a back/forth between the 2 shots of the guy staring into the screen as both sites have the same shot. The bluray.com shots are definitely more of a teal color & not as green.

Revisionism it may be, but man the transfer looks nice, considering this film was printed traditionally.
