Nope, I had the same info they did just before they had it.
Don't see the point in giving them clicks we could get.

Agreed.

Or Medicine Man.

Or When A Man Loves A Woman.

"Song of the South" may never get a release. They tried several years back, asked Maya Angelou to introduce it. Unfortunately, when she watched it, she decided to crusade against it, and back into the vault it went.

They probably should have asked James Earl Jones, who would probably be more likely to see it for what it is: a snapshot of a different era of Hollywood and the attitudes it portrayed in its films.

"The Black Cauldron" is a huge black eye for Disney. Not only did it lose money, but it was beaten in the box office by "The Care Bears Movie". It was part of the backslide era that continued into the start of the 90's. Between "The Black Cauldron" and "Return to Oz", 1985 was a year Disney would love to forget.

As far as "Treasure Island", have any of the Bobby Driscoll films been released on Blu-ray?

As far as the rest, the one's I think have the best chance of release are:

Mary Poppins
20000 Leagues Under the Sea
Swiss Family Robinson (1960)

Escape to Witch Mountain (1975) is probably most likely to be released as a combo pack with the sequels.

My post was not about what I think will be released, just hoping it will lessen the number of 'Where is' posts.

As for The Black Cauldron, what does BO take have to do with a BD release? There have been quite a number of great films that were BO disappointments and a lot of stinkers that did great BO but could not withstand the test of time. Who is saying "where's Porky's"? Not many.

Are people under the impression that this is the only year that Disney will release live action movies?

I guess some are. You did not put in the title "Last ever catalog release" as far as I can tell.

Yeah, but the world is ending this year. That might make it the "last ever catalog release".

- Newsies
- Home on the Range
- The Horse Whisperer
- Treasure Planet
- The Aristocats
- Pete's Dragon
- Pocahontas
- The Rescuers
- The Tigger Movie
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire
- Brother Bear
- Dick Tracy

It would be cool if Horse Whisperer and Brother Bear feature the aspect ratio shift that they had in theaters. Brother Bear preserved the shift on DVD and so I'm hopeful.

PETER JACKSON: The theatrical versions are the definitive versions.

I sure would like to see The Kid released on Blu-ray. I thought it was a great mid-life crisis movie for guys.

I could say the same thing about your reply: Why did I bother reading it?

I've been waiting for a while for that one... If I remember from the DVD version I have it could really use the upgrade in resolution. I hope they are able to do it right as the whole movie was full of beautiful scenery.

I agree "UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN" was a good looking movie (and very entertaining movie). A chick-flick movie that you can enjoy even if you don't like chick-flicks.

Plus it has Diane Lane in the lead so... always good in HD!!!

She's also HOT in "JUDGE DREDD" too!

They probably have many more naughty bits to censor. Damn Disney PC police!

That's why "Song of the South" has never been released and a few of their early titles have been cut and censored like "The Three Caballeros," "Saludos Amigos," "Make Mine Music," "Fun and Fancy Free," and others. "Gone With the Wind" is far more insensitive to race relations than SOTS by a wide margin (and has smoking! and the word "damn"... eegads!) and it's considered a classic that got a full 4k resolution restoration!

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!

Yeah, but Gone with the Wind isn't a children's movie designed to be watched by impressionable youth. It also happens to be a vastly better and more important film than Song of the South.

None of which is to say that I agree with Disney's ban on the movie. But I do understand why they don't want to release it.
