The only thing that could get me to buy the movies again would be to have extended versions of the rest of the movies along with the first two. Everything else is "exclusive never-before-seen and must-have" window dressing.
Maybe the next version in a couple years?

We have our heading. Here we gooooooo!

The studios are too busy using them to remove grain and add EE to their catalog titles.

$500? Good thing no one is forcing me to buy this. That's outrageous... I was just thinking the other day that I should sell my current HP collection because I'm not sure I'll ever watch them again...

Sets like this are aimed strictly at the collector market. They'll be plenty of buyers for this set. Many of these will show up on eBay in 5 years, having never been opened, with really outrageous prices.

Wow, if only they showed this much respect to franchises that actually won at least one Oscar, such as Lord of the Rings.

Probably sooner than 5 years.

Nice Avatar, I just bought my first Gretsch G5120 orange. It's the lower end model but, man are they nice! I'd love to get a Country Gentleman. Sorry for the off-topic.

$350 for The Wanker with a Wand series is $300 too much.

I paid $250 for the original Star Wars Trilogy Definitive Collection on Laser Disc about 15 years back... 3 movies! Then again, the Faroudja line tripled (600P) ran about $15K. I guess this is a bargain for the whole series on 1080P!

It's still almost $45 a movie - too rich for my muggle blood...even if it comes in some spectacular case.

Warner's initial press release stated $499. Didn't even mention that was MSRP.

The least they could do is provide the discs inside the Hogwarts Castle model that they had for sale a few years ago, for that price: http://www.amazon.com/Potter-Hogwart.../dp/B00319EX4G.

I gave up on the Ultimate series after the first two movies as they changed the concept and it was no longer consistent

IF they have extendeded versions at high bit rate for all films I'll consider once the price is reasonable. Otherwise, forget it...

Agreed. We're probably getting a handful of Blu-Rays and then a bunch of DVD crap like the LOTR Extended Edition boxset to justify the price, though I know the high cost is probably due to the collectible crap that they are shoving in that package.

I guess WB couldn't close the HP vault for very long, only 8 months later, they are releasing the movies again, ie. presumely same movie edition as before except Year 1 and 2 from the UE that has extended cut. Even the 2nd bonus disc sounds like the same disc used to with Best Buy edition. (Blu-ray used to be hyped having a lot of storage for extra materials. Hollywood has proven it's bad to have too much space on the disc, so the bonus disc is split into 2 Blu-ray discs so that the 2nd bonus disc can be marketed as store exclusive or to be included when multi-dipping.) I wouldn't be surprised if all or almost all the discs are recycled from the existing editions. It's so sad nowadays about "new" editions. Changing the box or artwork seems to be the "new" feature.

Since WB has discontinued the standalone movies and assuming you can't find the old stock from anywhere, is this new set the only one available? If so, it's like WB is saying they gave you the chance to buy each movie individually and since you kept waiting, now if you want it, you must buy the only super expensive set.

Just skip this "new" edition because WB will do another multi-dipping.

You forget that more discs = reason to justify high price. (Packing all the extra materials to fewest possible 50GB Blu-ray discs are bad to justifying higher price). WB knows there will be enough extreme HP fans that will buy it just to own every possible edition.
