Actually, I was talking about the caps from Blu-ray.com, but I forgot to quote your previous message, my bad. smile.gif

Well I just compared several same caps as on Cinemasquid (like the bubble head one) and the colors were identical for both sites on the high-end professionally (not me) color calibrated monitor I use at work, flipping back and forth.

Strange, because the colors in the Cinemasquid caps and our caps seem to be lining up for me, but not with theirs so something is going off somewhere, perhaps the browsers?. *shrug*

Hate to say this, but even when I am switching tabs arounds, it is the blu-raydefinition site that does not match cinemasquid on my work and home monitors on a least one shot:

Maybe I missing am something?

I somehow did not notice your tag (some put rude comments in their tags so I ignore them out of force of habit) until your last post, sorry for the confusion. Got off work early today so I did not have time to look at other caps.

Yeah, you're right, so something else is going on with their shots, because ours seem to be lining up with the shots from DVD Beaver:

although the frames are a bit farther apart there.

If I have time at work I will try and look into vs beaver as well. Still have the Barbarella BD? Not a review copy that has to be sent back I mean.

The only other color discrepancy between blu-raydefinition and cinemasquid are these three of which the last two are subtle:

As for beaver it does not have any same shots as in blu-raydefinition besides that one, so I compared the shots that are the same on cinemasquid and beaver and both match color-wise (may need to drag the beaver links to a new window to view):

Maybe the colors in the film slightly changes in some shots.

Chinatown is one I thought a while back did not quite match other sites skin tone wise:

I use my own somewhat unique process for extracting screenshots (as partially documented here), so there are occasionally discrepancies. I would certainly prefer my shots to be accurate and I strive for that, so any criticisms of my capture process are most welcome. However, my goal in making them is not to be representational of picture quality, but rather to be visually interesting (to me at least) and they are not really intended for analytic purposes.

Thanks for your work on that. I think there are definitely going to be discrepancies from frame to frame, but some overall shots are wider apart than others.
Those Chinatown shots definitely have some slight differences, but, again, the first three, on my end at least, look a lot redder in skin tone on the Blu-ray.com shots than they do in the Beaver shots and ours. I think ours and Beaver's still look a lot closer together, same with the remaining shots. smile.gif

Thanks, not being critical at all. If anything, I'm trying to make sure the shots on our site aren't faulty. smile.gif

FYI, we use a process of ripping from BD to an MKV container file then capturing the screenshots to .PNG with VLC. I've thought about leaving them as such, but disc space and bandwidth concerns and the minor difference in the lossless files and 100% JPEG compression has us, at the moment at least, going with the lossy option.
