The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

Yes.

...and in punishment, Chuck Norris is personally going to will you into back into the womb where you'll retroactively cease to exist by reversing your own conception.

...and he'll do it using only his beard and a half eaten boogie board he punched a shark to retrieve.

Awesome. Between this and the German Cannon releases most should be covered. Now if only they would release the American Ninja trilogy

When they hit the inevitable $5 price point, it's going to be awful hard to pass on these discs.

We definitely need more of the Cannon catalog on Blu-Ray. They had a host of films that were must-see rentals back in the day and we do need to see the old Chuck Norris that we all used to know and love.

Neither is Code of Silence, but I think one Chuck Norris on Blu thread is enough most likely.

No, but the original pilot for what became Walker, Texas Ranger was a sequel to LWM and that was done by Cannon Television. They ultimately couldn't get the rights so it was re-done as Walker, Texas Ranger. Just saying.

I actually didn't know that--who says you don't learn something new every day?

WM has these for just below $10 each and I actually had some spare change, so...preordered. It'll be worth it if The Delta Force is finally in OAR (or at least 1.78:1, which is still better than the last DVD release), let alone the other two films...

...and I need your sweet love, Latina T-Mobile girl!

We're also getting multi-channel DTS-HD MA tracks so who knows what the product quality will be like.

They are probably using the HD master that was used for the DVD release several years ago, so don't expect too much.

My preorder arrived earlier today; I haven't popped any of them in for a spin yet, but the extremely basic specs as per the cases are...appropriately middling:

The Delta Force: 1.78:1 aspect ratio, DTS HD-MA 2.0 English
Missing In Action: 1.85:1 aspect ratio, DTS HD-MA mono English
Missing In Action 2: see above

And apparently they're all AVC-encoded discs, for whatever that's worth. Then again, at $10 a pop I suppose I'm not that surprised.

I've had a 1080i MPEG-2 copy of The Delta Force for a couple of years now, recorded from the HDnetMovies channel. It had some pretty decent 5.1 channel Dolby Digital sound.

So why the hell does the Blu-ray have only plain old 2-channel stereo sound? Offically it's DTS-MA 2.0, but it's pretty crappy and tinny DTS-MA 2.0, even when run through Dolby Pro Logic.

The picture on the Blu-ray looks sharper than the HDnetMovies broadcast, but bright colors look a bit oversaturated.

Overall, the picture's better on the BD, but the sound was better on HDnetMovies.

I have a DVHS of DELTA FORCE, grain and all, recorded back when cable had high bit rates for HD. It's fine by me. I'll stick with it.

Probably because original audio isn't 5.1.

I could handle 2.0 sound if the movie were recorded that way originally, no problem.

But that still doesn't explain the complete lack of low end, and how tinny the movie sounds. Where's the bass when things are blowing up??????

I believe the Missing in Action movies were mono, but The Delta Force was either Dolby Stereo or Ultra Stereo... even the old Image Entertainment LaserDisc from 1988 or so had a decent stereo surround track.

Now I'm kind of wishing I still had that LaserDisc for comparison, because I don't remember lack of bass being a problem with it.

The DTS-HD MA 2.0 soundtrack for The Delta Force does lack serious punch and the gunplay sounds nothing like a modern, lossless production. It wouldn't surprise me to find out the soundtrack was sourced from a lossy Dolby source.

Problem is, The Delta Force sounds wimpy and tinny even compared to other Dolby Stereo movies from the same time period. When I run the DTS-MA 2.0 channel track through my Pioneer Elite Pro Logic decoder, the subwoofer is completely silent. Not a peep out of it. That's not how decently mixed Dolby Stereo movies are supposed to sound, and I don't remember it being a problem on the nearly 25-year old Laserdisc (I did have a decent Pro Logic system back then).

I'm going over Missing In Action 2 at the moment for an upcoming review and it looks great, much better than the first Missing In Action.
