rented this over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised by this wonderful, touching film

some people may be turned off and see it as exploitive or cloying, but i found it rather sensitive and thought provoking.

it's really not about 911 but about ever day after. the young actor did a tremendous job carrying this movie as did all of the character actors he meets on his journey.

nice br transfer as well.

i highly recommend this sleeper of a film.

I agree with most of the above sentiments, I wouldn't call it a sleeper since it was up for best picture. Obnoxious kids in movies annoy me but this character did not. Touching movie...highly unrealistic but touching movie no less.

I just saw this last night on Blu-ray. It is "Extremely Intense and Incredibly Good".

The film resonated with a lot of my own memories and experiences. I found it much more realistic than many people at that level at least.

Got this from Redbox the other day. The second promo on the disc is kind of intriguing. This one for WB Insider Rewards (it's 1080p but the YouTube video is only 360p): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4FzxP2T4Bs

For some reason they chose to use a clip of the old transfer of The Matrix without the heavy green tint (0:16 in). In 1080p it's clear that this was one of Warner's crappy old horizontal jaggy masters.

Meanwhile the clips of Inception have a different color timing than the Blu-ray release itself did, and seem to have more detail. Compare this shot if you can watch the 1080p promo on this disc or another one. Or maybe I'm just going crazy. Sadly, I don't have my BD-ROM drive to post any proof.

I really enjoyed this one, too - in particular, the "twist", which is well done.

We watched it last night and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

Because we're in the blu-ray thread, let me add:
1) the beautiful cinematography came across well on the BD;
2) sound quality was gorgeous (especially the score, which reminded me of Phillip Glass and Danny Elfman) as well.

Count me as a naysayer but I found it a bore.

It's back!! Wine of the Week! Clos Martinet Tinto, Priorat DOCa, Spain ~$60. If you've not had a good Priorat, you've not truly tried Spain's smallest, yet most unique terroir.

Extremely Manipulative and Incredibly Heavy Handed.

Its saving grace had to be Tom Hanks.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!
