I've seen more cinematic (and believable) cutscenes in a Final Fantasy video game.

No, it's just as short and sweet as ever.

I had some time to watch the extended/deleted scenes (a few of them that really fleshed out the characters), gag reel (some hilarious stuff), and the followup short film "Item 47". It was interesting to see the difference between the Canon and Arri scenes. Did anyone else notice that Whedon's commentary is on disc? I mean, it's labeled as an optional commentary, but I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. I thought someone said they didn't have time to include it?

If he means the Target Exclusive bonus disc, it's 98 mins of Marvel being self-congratulatory and talking about all the movies leading up to The Avengers.

The Avengers itself gets 15 mins, which is shocking.

I am also disappointed with the lack of features that the Avengers had included in its release, but that's not the fault of the Target-exclusive disc. Target's bonus disc is called "Building a Cinematic Universe", not "The Making of Marvel's The Avengers".

Question: What happens when you play the 3D disc on a 3D player hooked up to a non-3D panel?

I like the Target exclusive disc contents. The point of the documentary is for more comic movie viewers that may not know the origins of each characters and how they first appear in the comics. How they evolved over the decades on comic before appearing as the version you see today in the movies. For comic diehards, the documentary will probably be boring. But if you have someone who keeps asking you to explain the characters background in how they started in the comics, the documentary can be a good "Marvel 101" for the characters that appear in the Avengers.

I can only speak for PS3. On PS3, it detects if your HDTV is 3D capable. If not, it refuses to let you play the 3D movie disc.

You cause a massive disruption in the space time continuum that will threaten to end all life as we know it by causing a multi-dimensional fracture leading to different realities becoming inter-connected via conduits of quantum energy that intersect in destructive ways. As it says in your Blu-Ray player owner's manual, "Don't do it."

Actually, it would be cool it can lead to multi-dimensional fracture.

But you don't even get to do it at least with Sony PS3. I guess Sony doesn't want to be responsible of multi-dimensional fracture happens around you.

For Avengers 3D Blu-ray, the menu itself is 3D. I don't know the percentage of other 3D Blu-ray movies having 3D menu. The menu rotates and reveals each character in 3D effects. The character is facing you is "pops" out of the screen. Simple use of 3D effects but really cool to look at when used on the movie menu.

As for subtitle, this is also true with other 3D movies. The subtitle is also in 3D meaning the text is floating closer to you.

Looks like the foster care Organizations got what they wanted. They removed the Joke from thor about Loki being adopted at the end of the movie. I wonder if they left it in the UK version.

Was the joke in US theater release? Don't remember it. But Loki was adopted in the Thor movie. What are they going to do, "remake" Thor movie again?

yes it was at the end of the movie where they questioned Thor about Loki doing all this damage and saying thats your brother. Thor responds hes adopted. days later so many foster care organizations got on the studios ass over that.

the way things are going these days, I was almost afraid they were going to remove Hulk's puny god comment towards loki.

Huh? This was more in the middle of the movie after Thor first appeared and it was still in the movie. Just watched it last night and remember thinking it was still funny.

Yeah, I'm calling BS.

Some days around here, it's like being trapped in a lift, with a circus.

And while we're talking about things being removed, not only was the "adopted" joke still in the movie but Agent Coulson's stabbing scene was too. If I'm not mistaken there were comments that this had been removed for the home release.
