Amazon.co.uk has an entry for Iron Sky on Blu-Ray.

The listing says this Blu-Ray is PAL encoded, although I'm pretty sure that is irrelevant for BR purposes (i.e. there is no such thing as NTSC/PAL when it comes to Blu-Ray). What I want to know is, is this disc region encoded for the UK only? Or is it region-free?

It doesn't appear to be region-locked. I've seen pictures of both the front and back of the package and there is no region lock code shown. It's also 1080p/24 so there should be no other playing issues with a U.S. player and TV. Even if it turns out to be region-locked there are ways around this.

I threw it into my US PS3 to check it for you guys and it's definitely region free.

NOTE: Some of the extras are in 1080p, 24fps. Namely, the making of, teaser trailer and photo gallery. The promos will not play on a player that can't handle PAL/50hz material.

Thanks, raoul--I was wondering about this one myself. The presence of 1080i/50 material (albeit not the movie itself) is a downer, though with no concrete data on when the BD might make it Stateside...hmm...

...and I need your sweet love, Latina T-Mobile girl!

Here's a good site to bookmark for region info.

Unfortunately, not all movies are on those lists. This one isn't, for instance.

Just got done watching it. Cheesy, campy, definitely Grade B (or C even), but overall a bunch of fun as long as you're not expecting anything serious. Some good pop culture references. Pretty good eye candy on Blu-Ray too.

I don't know about the German release, but the UK Blu-Ray plays fine on my PS3.
