I think this collectable was good enough:

Don't see the point of another.

The 5-disc set looked pretty decent for 2007. Nowadays it's totally bleh.

I was not "trying to show HD DVD as the superior format". Nowhere did I post that on this thread. You making stuff up!
As Geoff D later posted: "The irony is, I'm NOT slating HD DVD. I'm slating Warners". And this similar sentiment goes for me too: "I am NOT slamming BD, I am slamming WB!!!". tongue.gif

Ha, ha!!
From your own link:
17 50GB BD's released in '06.
And the subject at hand was released at 23.33GB on Blu in Dec. '07.
So, besides the fact that I postED 50GB discs were not common in "early '07" your arguing about an 12/18/07 release that was 25GB.
Too funny!

"I wonder if any of the releases had slipcovers though."
"Are these comfirmed to have slipcovers?"
"They look nice in those slips."
"This slipcover looks too good to pass up."

The more I think about this release, the angrier I get. It's one thing to replace the existing set with a repackage of the same discs, but they mastered new discs for this release and the only new material on them is a stills gallery. I'm not asking for a big budget expenditure here- there are existing assets on these discs that could be improved at no additional production cost. Lossless audio on the Alternate and workprint versions, Dangerous Days in HD... they rebuilt the discs and couldn't be bothered to use materials they already have to improve the quality of the release at no extra cost to them.

This is how you "celebrate" the 30th Anniversary, WB? With a stills gallery and a hearty, "What we gave you five years ago is good enough!"? Well, guess what, WB? The money I gave you five years ago is good enough, too.

I don't feel special...

What I'd really like for the 30th anniversary is a reprint of 'Blade Runner: The Inside Story'. I never did get to pick it up before it went out of print and now it goes for expensive prices secondhand.

I have very pumped about these. IF they grow some brains and at least attain a 25Mbps level I will be happy. For a shorter film this should be given the 35 treatment though. I would have a hernia if these people just said let's do things right for a change instead of cramming and ramming the disc with stuff. I pray I finally get to see a proper final cut. I refuse to watch the crap they released first again. 15Mbps is pathetic for such a great film that is not even close to long.

The DC no thanks. I have owned the five disc and no longer require its use. Not only do I hate the color timing of the old releases I don't want to watch the lesser cut anymore. It's a relic that should stay a relic. Only people who prefer that old thing are diehards who cannot let it go. It's there if you want it and I don't.

Now why would I be on my knees again? lol wat

24Mbps isn't really anything special and I would be ashamed if they cannot get this film to 35Mbps as it should be.

I mean it's been shown time and time again that regions around low 20s are just not enough for people like me TO BUY. I don't need another 100 discs of the same films when the next gen 4k discs come out and spank all in two or so years. Sorry but it's true.

I kinda of figured you cannot make up your mind on what you want. First you say 25 mbps then 4K, then the grain scrubbed version which even at 55 mbps will not have the same detail as the live action in the DC.

Stick with watching new films then, oh wait their DI is at 2K so you are stuck to seeing 'relics'. HaHa!

No, 25Mbps would be acceptable for a cheap buy. The grain is not necessarily all scrubbed TFC is 16 Mbps FFS. You don't get much grain detail with that kind of crap or if you do it looks awful.

I will inevitably buy the 4k as that will be forever definitive to me. I wouldn't mind having a copy around but I'd rather rent than pay for sloppy stuff like this. Better than top of the line DVD bitrates barely. Sorry, I can't pay for that.

The HD preview of the FC are at a higher mbps and it still has obvious grain scrubbing and less detail then the DC, the restorers admitted they messed with the film grain for the FC. Even with a FC 1000mbps the DC will still have the most detail unless they do a BR: Another Final Cut with less grain removal.

Anyway I am moving on, you can keep going in circles if you want.

They wouldn't have to re-cut the movie to release it with less grain-reduction.

I may have missed something ... do we know for a fact, at this point, that there is no improvement over the previous release except for the "HD gallery", in particular, do we know that "Dangerous Days" will again be presented in SD? At the time, the esteemed Mr de Lauzirika seemed very sorry that his groundbreaking and unsurpassed documentary would be presented in SD, and he said that it had only been due to the time constraints. Well, time since then has been plenty, so I would believe he'd be not sorry, but pissed. But again, is it a fact already?

Everything from the back cover to the disc layout suggests no improvement apart from the workprint, but no, I don't think there have been any reports on the actual discs yet.

Okay, I laughed. smile.gif

Seriously, though: AIUI, this appears to be a streamlined version of the 5-disc UCE release, with only one addition: a stills gallery. There's the digibook version, I suppose, but I'm not sure offhand if that's three discs or four (the Anniversary release with the spinner model is four discs).

...and I need your sweet love, Latina T-Mobile girl!
