Yes, they did.
There's more extras on this new edition. Not enough for me to double dip though.

I will pick up H3, just not for $30!
Oh, and They Live!

We're almost at a point now where any "old" movie is now considered a "classic."

I'm going to buy all three -- but none of them are remotely close to being a "classic" IMO

Not going to be re-buying Halloween II again this soon.. but want Halloween III.

Also want a couple of the others, though I second the "Where is Phantasm" question!

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

I'm sure it has to do with rights, these seem to be Universal movies. Phantasm is MGM I believe.

MGM does show up on IMDB as having put out some DVDs and VHSs.
Starz shows up as having put out the most recent DVD in the US (2007).
Starz is Anchor Bay so I would assume they've got the rights now (I could be wrong).

I think your right, I remember a rerelease of Phantasm a couple years ago.
In the UK Anchor Bay has the rights to all 4 Phantasm films, I imported the silver Sphere DVD set.

Death Valley and Deadly Blessing are DVD-only releases.

At least, that's how it read in their press release --

Debuting this September, SCREAM FACTORY™ boasts a scary slate of fan-favorite thrillers from the 1980s, many of which have never been available on Blu-ray™ before. Titles include Halloween II and TERROR TRAIN, (both starring “Scream Queen” Jamie Lee Curtis); the 30th Anniversary release of Halloween III: Season of the Witch; They Live from director John Carpenter (The Thing); Peter Benchley’s THE ISLAND starring Michael Caine, The Funhouse from director Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist); the nightmarish Phantasm II; and the much-anticipated DVD debuts of DEADLY BLESSING, directed by Wes Craven (Scream) and featuring Sharon Stone in an early role, and DEATH VALLEY starring Peter Billingsley (A Christmas Story).

They need to get the rights to Re-Animator and Bride of Re-Animator. Those two movies beg for a Blu-Ray package. Heck, I'll even buy the third one if they only want to put together a triple feature package.

I emailed Shout Factory over the weekend about the original Phantasm to see if they had the rights or if they knew who does.
They replied today (which is awesome)
Anyway...

Anchor Bay may still own the rights. They put it out last.

Do Shout factory releases show up in retail stores, or are they site exclusive? If they are available elsewhere, who usually carries them?

If they use the HD transfer that has been used for the MGM channel, it's decent but the color timing was significantly different than any previous home video release with a heavy bias towards oversaturated blues and greens.

Lifeforce. And I wouldn't necessarily call it teal. Definitely different color timing than any previous home video version I've seen, but also just REALLY saturated, kind of like the Pulp Fiction Blu-ray and how that title compares to dvd, LD and tape releases in the past.

I didn't think it was that extreme. Certainly different than the DVD, but neither looks like the 35mm prints. I saw a 35mm print (cut version) and would say it is somewhere in between the MGM-HD transfer and the old DVD.

One thing is for certain, the HD transfer is miles and miles ahead of the DVD and doesn't suffer from any loony-tunes thick DNR or EE. So Shout Factory should LEAVE IT ALONE and not tinker.
