Does any one know where we can buy the 49 episode NHK version of Musashi (preferably R1)? Either on bluray or dvd? I already have the Criterion 3 DVD set called in North America "The Samurai Trilogy".

UPDATE: I think I found it.....

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/search3.html?r=any&step=20&q=musashi+miyamoto&cur=20

Does say it's R2 (DVD). Though, if you look further down the webpage it's also listed as NTSC. & R2. If any one buys this set...make sure you have a multi-region DVD player.

The Criterion Samurai Trilogy was released this week on Blu-Ray. It is a lot better than the DVD imagewise... The original DVD looked like it was from a VHS transfer... The Blu-Ray looks very good considering the age of the film but not quite as good as other Criterion releases...

If it's not a BIG screen, it's not a theater...

Don't know if I'll buy again. I heard about the Bluray version.

I'd rather get my hands on the NHK tv-series version. Which I of course don't yet have.

Love to see the JP make a current version about the life of Musashi. Maybe have the same director as 18 Assassins and Hara-Kiri: Death Of A Samurai (2011...not the original 1964 version). Takeshi Mieki.
