I could've sworn there was a thread for this one already!

Anyway, screenshots are up over at dvdbeaver. It's too bad they've proven themselves untrustworthy when it comes to accurately representing how a blu-ray transfer looks. Either they're using a PC from 2006 to take their screengrabs or there's just some box in the list of settings they've neglected to uncheck. Take any movie on blu-ray and compare dvdbeaver's screenshots to the ones at and cinemasquid. They'll tell you very different stories about film grain and fine detail.

Even taking into account their problems with screenshots, the transfer appears to be very film-like with a nice amount of grain in the image.

This is a great movie and I never picked it up on dvd, so I might have to get the blu-ray at some point.

The red areas look odd but that maybe a jpeg compression issue. Other then that the caps look promising.

TCM is presenting Singin' In The Rain on the big screen at select theaters for one day only, Thursday July 12. Love these kinds of events!

I'm not crazy!  My mother had me tested...

I finally got around to watching this one last night and it didn't knock my socks off. It doesn't look like one of those "ultra-resolution" remasters of other 3-strip technicolor films (where they digitally recombine the elements to compensate for differential shrinkage). That's all fine and good IMO as whatever film element used doesn't really have any noticeable registration errors but what is dissapointing is the color. It looks very....brownish-yellow? If that's what it actually looked like on film ok but I don't think so...although I have never seen a "reference" print of this projected.
