The fact that it was shot in 3D had me planning on buying the 4-disc, despite the fact that I don't have so much as a 3D-capable player (nevermind a 3dtv). It's nice to know I'll be getting another awesome de Lauzirika doc for my troubles.

Seriously? What the f....

I'd been shopping around for a 3D-capable software package, and just picked up PowerDVD a few days ago, and now I find out it won't play Prometheus?

How well does Cyberlink update their software for new releases?

Granted, I'm only using it for the 3D version (my computer monitor is my only 3D display), but still.. this one had really good 3D, it's gonna suck to not be able to play it with the new software package that I just frikkin' bought. That pisses me off.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mister Anderson.

PowerDVD gave me a fair amount of grief last year so I switched to Arcsoft TotalMedia Theater. It was a good move. They have a 15 day trial. You could give that a shot.

Inability to play a title due to DRM is a strong encouragement to rip that title to remove the DRM, just to play it: when will the studios learn?

I have the 2 disc version ordered at Amazon.
I can drop it and order the 4 disc, but I still don't see any info on Amazon or elsewhere that the 4 disc version has extras but the 2 disc version does not.
Can anyone find more information on this. I'm sure others are having the same queries.

I think you are correct.
I wish the Amazon site was more explicit.
However, in anticipation, I cancelled 2 disc and ordered 4 disc version.
Thanks for the heads up!

Actually, this raises the question in my mind:

What's the best website to get a breakdown of all the various SKU's of a new release like this (what you're getting in one, what you're not getting in another, etc)???

How the heck is anyone watching the Prometheus Blu-Ray so early? It doesn't come out until the 11th, right?

Are you even able to watch the 3D disc (even if it's just in 2D mode, as all 3D BD's are supposed to be capable of)????

Wow, I am much more curious about that aspect ratio than I have any right to be.

That is a misnomer. It is an option. The studio decides when they author a 3D BD whether it can be played back in 2D mode. If there is a 3D BD and a BD in the combo, that pretty much says the 3D BD will only play in a 3D BD player with a 3DTV attached.

I KNOW I'm getting the 4-disc ed!!! Gotta get my hands on that BD-3D!!! I saw the movie in a 4DX theater (which means, 3D + motion effects + wind, spray, fog, lightning, and what-not effects) and I was blown away, by EVERYTHING!!! Anticipating re-living the experience at home (minus that extra dimension, mind you--no D-Box or Buttkicker in my system!!! cool.gif

I hesitate to think what the theater did during the abortion scene.

When a French Prometheus set hinted at over 2 hours of bonus features, it seemed like an awful lot, but the Prometheus 4-Disc Collectors Edition 3D Blu-ray will actually come with over seven hours of extras. Fox Home Entertainment is really packing them in, including everything from commentary to deleted scenes, and from featurettes to screen tests.
