Saw this in the theater, and loved it. Hard to rank it among Wes Anderson releases. Life Aquatic and Fabulous Mr. Fox are my current favorites. I'll have to watch it again to decide.

Think this will get an eventual Criterion release?

I certainly hope so. I have enjoyed all of his films, but this one in particular.

PETER JACKSON: The theatrical versions are the definitive versions.

Hopefully even the Universal releases will have the 'Bill Murray Hosted Tour of Moonrise Kingdom' which was edited into commercial spots:

And the 'Cousin Ben Troop Screening' from Funny Or Die:

The release schedules I've seen have said August 14th on Blu Ray for Tenenbaums. Amazon seems to confirm that:

Non-Criterion DVD and Blu-ray releases are already up for preorder at Amazon.

You said non criterion, what lead you to believe there is a Criterion release?

I was just hoping that it would be announced as a Criterion release, like some of his other films. Then I saw the preorder and it wasn't listed as a Criterion release. I'd buy it twice if Criterion gets a chance at it later.

PETER JACKSON: The theatrical versions are the definitive versions.

That'll be just fine. I'd like the Cousin Ben bit, but these will be sufficient, and by the way, please don't screw up the transfer. Given that, roll on October!

Are you able to take screenshots?
I would also like to know what the average video bitrate of the UK BD is.

Ralph Potts mentioned in his review (US BD) :
Quote:
Moonrise Kingdom comes to Blu-ray Disc from Universal Studios Home Entertainment featuring 1080p AVC encoded video that has an average bitrate of 34 Mbps and lossless DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio that has an average bitrate of 3.5 Mbps.

On Amazon UK, the blu-ray shows up in your cart like this:

Moonrise Kingdom [Blu-ray][Region Free]
by Bruce Willis

What's up with the different colors? Your screenshot (UK BD) looks much less saturated.

Could not for the life of me get this exact frame, but these shots are way off I would think it was a capture issue.

That's weird. The colors of the two screenshots (US vs UK) look different on my monitor (HP LP2475w).
Can you post one more comparison (any screenshot of the http://www.highdefdiscnews.com/?p=90755 review ) ?
