Finished watching it last night (first time seen it), fantastic film the Aq was awesome as well as the Pq. I watched the entire film in C.I.H. and didnt have any problems at all with the variable aspect ratio change nothing stood out of the ordinary, great film will watch again this Sat night. Bane is awesome.

The framing tends to be a bit lower than it should be, often cutting off bits of people's heads, but you see what you need to see.

This was my least favorite of the three movies but I did like the way he filmed the sewer fight scene. The camera isn't shaking around all over the place like most every fight in a movie for the past 10 years.

Here's some feeback from a member with an A-lens set up:

Upon turning VS off on the projector it was confirmed these 2 scenes were IMAX. Other than that you would be hard pressed to realise what scenes were IMAX unless you already knew.

Looking forward to seeing this next week in my own set up. Thanks to all who responded. There is a dedicated thread on this title in the CIH forum for those interested in that discussion.

Thinking about this - surely for the AR changing, they're still going to keep the your eyes focussed in roughly the same place on the screen from shot to shot - if the framing was such that your eyes' focus jumped up every time the AR shifted to IMAX mode, you really would be pulled out of the moment! So it seems logical that on a CIH setup the IMAX shots are going to be pretty well framed in 2.35:1 even if some picture is being lost top and bottom?

That's obviously a very rudimentary take on it.

Might be beating a dead horse but I just finished the movie and man is the AR-changes annoying. I didn't mind it that much in TDK since there were a lot fewer scenes and this shifts mid scenes happened maybe once or twice but in ...Rises? Constantly going back and forth and many of the scenes chosen to be in IMAX doesn't make any sense. There are short cutaways and dialog scenes. I get the big set pieces but the scene on the bridge in the end for example.Yeah, wow... well spent money there... When the changes happened in TDK you knew something big was going down, something great was to be expected, now? People talking

I would have expected this from the TDK, with having "new toys" and maybe the urge to overuse them but it's like they actually went back in experience shooting this movie compared to TDK.

$18.99 on Amazon. Has anyone seen it cheaper anywhere else? Will Redbox have this Tues? I noticed Netflix wont have it until the 24th of this month.

Same for me as others. I created a cropped version to maintain the same AR throughout and didn't even notice. I'm moderately sensitive to things like this also, so I would say it's a non-issue for 90%+ of even the AVS'ers.

This is why I would rather rent it. I am doing the zoom method on a CIH screen and dont have enough masking to mask the frame when it opens to 1.78. I keep hearing how often this film changes aspects which is really going to be annoying in my setup I am sure. rolleyes.gif

Rip bluray, grab a 2.35:1 frame cut the bars out and frame by frame add them back in.

Watching this after Bourne legacy was a mistake, this mix is a mess in places.

Will there be any compression in video/audio if you do this?

I would like to give this a shot. Do you just burn it on a Blu-ray disc again, or are you physically altering the files on the disc which you own?

Care to PM me and tell me what software is necessary for this kind of thing?

By the way, I think the non-IMAX shots are 2.40:1.

Why all the non-OAR posts on this thread?
Seriously, I am just asking a question.

My last post on this thread was removED & I recievED an infarction.
I am not trying too cause any trouble; just troublED by all the non-OAR talk at AVS.

If this is my last post at AVS at least I went out pro-OAR! biggrin.gif

"I wonder if any of the releases had slipcovers though."
"Are these comfirmed to have slipcovers?"
"They look nice in those slips."
"This slipcover looks too good to pass up."

I'd like the option, is all. I want both versions. Between you and me, if I had to choose between one or the other, I'd choose the OAR. However, if I have the choice of having both, I'd much rather have both.

Truth be told, the inconsistency doesn't bother me as much as it bothers me having to explain to other people what they're looking at when the AR changes. I literally had six or seven independent TDK viewings with parties of people who were asking what the hell was going on, and I actually had to pause and explain it because they never understood it. What saddened me the most was they didn't ever see the visual difference, either.

The only thing I know of is Best Buy is offering a bonus disc with both the trilogy and Dark Knight Rises (same disc).
Target is going to have 2 book editions of the movie, one with Batman on the cover, the other with Bane.

Doesn't look like a "bonus disc." From the BB Website for the 2 packages with Bonus Content:
Exclusive The Dark Knight Reborn Documentary with Pre-Order
When you add the Blu-ray SteelBook combo below to your cart, the Best Buy exclusive CinemaNow download will be added automatically.

CORRECTION: The Dark Knight Reborn is indeed on the second TDKR BD (Special Features).

Ed is correct. Please take the discussion about the aspect ratio to the other thread in this forum or if it involves CIH, I've started a thread in that forum on this title.

Thanks for everyone's help and understanding
