same for "Mechanic Resurrection" from Redbox . . another sub-standard quality BD from Lionsgate.

Having an open mind I enjoyed it and and watched it with my girls. Lots of bass in this one. It is what it is. I like action movies, and they all have CGI, so I don't get wrapped around all the details, just enjoyed it for what it is. It does display a little dark when watching.

You guys are a tough audience. After seeing Johnny Weismuller's Tarzan on Saturday mornings in the late 50's with Jane and Cheetah, I thought this one was pretty good, and had a better plot than many of those earlier ones, and thank heavens he didn't belt out that 'famous' undulating yell! I'm 71 .. .. and it's not gotten super high marks on Rotten Tomatoes so I'm guessing I'm not alone in my assessment ..

Deep water Horizon have Atmos?

Goodbye to a great audio and video genius and writer... JOHN GANNON. I enjoyed your friendship, wit and a nice long run we took around Indianapolis at CEDIA years back... and for buying my Runco 980 Ultra years back... you saved my ass! Rest in peace.

Damn it! I just rented it.
I will have to keep this thread bookmarked before renting movies.
Actually, I've started googling what studio released the movie before I rent it. Not always easy to find, but worth it.
I didn't do it tonight, and this is what I get.

Nope. Same old Lionsgate bull@$#$. So I watched it downstairs on the OLED with our LCR audio system.

Yes - old "Lyinsgate" - - up to their same old tricks. I'd never buy any product from Lionsgate just based on their practices. It could be the second coming of Christ and if it's on Lyinsgate, no deal.

I've pretty well just grown to ignore the issue .. my system is good enough that, no matter lossy or lossless, it's still worth while .. would I rather have lossless .. well, of course, yes, but 5.1 is not the End of the World As We Know It .. but I'm not going to deprive myself and if I absolutely must have lossless, there is always http://www.store-3d-blurayrental.com/ .. which has been mentioned here about a Billion Times .. and, if it was the Second Coming of Christ, I'd settle for Mono ..

On a different note :: I did a Global Search on Redbox this AM for DR Strange and nothing came up even for future releases .. don't know what's up with that ..

Who's going to take one for the team and rent Dr. Strange?

I would but probably wont get a chance for a few weeks to watch anything. And even then Mass Effect will be out so it'll be time to dustoff the PS4...

Moonlight from Redbox is Lossless, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Blu-ray.com lists only that audio track. I wonder why Lionsgate didn't add a lossy track for their rental discs. Maybe this is will be a new trend, but I doubt it.

BTW. I rented Doctor Strange last night form Redbox here in Colorado. It didn't show up on the list on Tuesday but it was their last night.

Darn. It's a DTS:X release so I was hoping it would at least contain DTS HD like I've seen with other lionsgate rentals.
