'Course, Sony players also had the audio issue too... which means Sony was blaming Sony no matter who you call about the problem! smile.gif

I ended up ordering the 4k transfer from Amazon US because I was sick of the lack of response from both Sony Electronics & Sony Pictures. It arrived just 2 nights ago. When I played the movie on my Sony BDP-S790 Blu-ray player, the image kept on breaking up rendering the movie totally unwatchable! Concerned I had another dud disc from Sony, I then played it on my Samsung BD-E5500 and it played perfectly, so then to be sure, I went in to the spare room and popped it in my old trusty Pioneer BDP-51FD Blu-ray player and it also played the movie perfectly, the image was beautifully crisp and jaw-dropping! So my question is this.... Sony, what the hell is going on when Sony movies won't play properly in Sony Blu-ray players?confused.gif

Now you have me sitting on the fence. Don't want to put out that kind of money for a supposed improvement, to buy a non-extended version, only to find the 790 won't play it. But then is it just your 790, or, all the 790s? Will my OPPO 93 now play it correctly since it also had the original dropout issue as well, and they've had no FW updates in a while. May wait for a Lighting Deal where I can get a 1 day super low price on it.

Played the whole Total Recall 2012 Without a Dropout, nor Video Problems!

After a Factory Default Reset to get rid of the 4K Upconversion for a Seiki 4K I had at the time, I'm back to the Fraction of a Second dropouts in Scene 9.

New Sony FW Updates Oct 2, 2013 - will have to retry the Total Recall and see if there's been any improvement over the last FW Update.

Tested:
Audio MUCH improved!
TR - still has the dropouts.

It has definitely improved the 4k remaster of Total Recall! I no longer need to set my Sony BDP-S790 player to RGB, it is now set to YCbCr 4:4:4 as it should be......smile.gif

New Sony FW Updates this week. Will give it another go, but I think Sony has fixed it the best they can re getting this BD error free.

Question about TOTAL RECALL Mastered in 4K

I just brought home and set up my new Samsung 65JS8500 UHD set. The first Blu-ray I popped in to watch was the subject movie (yes, I know it is actually in 1080p). Overall it looks great. One thing I noticed is that is seems to have a lot of shots where there is light glare across the screen. Mostly this shows up as horizontal flares of light. These appear early in the move when they move through the city and into the "Fall". Not having seen this movie before, I am wondering if these are intentionally done as part of the original movie. Since the TV is new to me as well, I don't know if this could be a flaw somehow.

Can anyone tell me if these are a normal, intentional part of the film? Thanks!

Rob

OK then. Didn't think to check for an existing thread. Sorry about that. Now that I've been "merged", I see that within 5 posts people were talking about the lens flares! Good to know. Thanks.
