I know where I can get a good deal on the UK version of this release, but have never really bought anything internationally. From mostly a picture quality and audio quality stand point which set is better, the US or UK release. Extras matter to me, but not as much. I know Quantum of Solace is Region B, but I already own it so I could just plan on holding on to it if I went with the UK set. Thanks in advance for all comments and opinions.

On all of the discs previously released in 2008, the US set contains the movies' original mono or stereo sound mixes in Dolby Digital format. The UK set only has the 5.1 remixes. For the nine titles released for the first time this year, both regions have the original sound mixes.

I believe that all of the 2008 discs are region-locked as well, whereas the new discs are region-free.

The only region B disc in the UK set is QOS.

The best course of action is to get the US box due to having the original audio mixes for all the films, whereas the UK set only has 5.1 remixes for several of the older films that were released individually before the Bond 50 set.

The only advantage that the UK set has over its US counterpart is that its Casino Royale disc has the uncut version (rated BBFC-15), while the US is still stuck with the edited PG-13 cut. Of course, you can get the region-free UK disc by itsef for about $15 shipped from Amazon.co.uk so that's not an insurmountable problem if you want the US box set.

buy them individually, they won't be scratched that way...

The proper setting for sharpness is always0.
Also my Oppo BDP-103D is region free.
That makes me awesome.

Does anyone know why the Canadian and American Amazon stores now list this box set for $300? Why the nearly 100 price jump? I guess I'll have to go with the UK set since it's half that price.

Best Buy lists it for $150 on their website. Find a Target near you that has it in stock and ask them to price match it. Only $7.00 a movie at that price. Just take a print out to Target or show them on your smart phone.

Sadly I live in Canada so Target isn't an option and Futureshop and Bestbuy only price match Canadian stores ($200.00 on those sites). Thanks for your help.

One can only hope but doubt they will: A re-issue disc for Goldeneye, the picture quality is beyond hideous. One of the worst I've ever seen on Blu-ray. A total slap in the face for those who bought the box set.

It's bad, but still watchable. I've seen much worse on Blu-ray.

Check out the UK release of the Korean A Better Tomorrow remake.

Or don't.

It has issues, that I have no words for.
